Bohdan Kaidyk, the 5th-year student of TEF, was born in town Kolkakh on Styr river, Volyn region. His education has started in the class with specialization in physics and mathematics of local school.

May 11–12th, on the basis of Heat-and-Power Engineering department of Igor Sikorsky KPI the IV International scientific-practical conference "Sustainable development of ХХІ century: management, technologies, models (Scientific discussion named after Ihor Nedin)" was carried out.

Training of heating engineers at the Kyiv polytechnic institute has begun from the first days of its existence and occurred in the mechanical department of the institute.

From January 30 to February 3, 2017 International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in collaboration with the Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine on the basis of the Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute conducted national seminar on "Educational program of physical nuclear safety in Ukraine: practice, IAEA recommendations and implementation experience in some universities."

On 22 December, a.i. director of State Enterprise "National power energy company "Ukrenergo", Vsevolod Kovalchuk delivered an open lecture "Smart Energy to/for Everyone" to power engineering students of Igor Sikorsky KPI.

Scientists of Institute of Space Research (ISR) of Ukrainian National Academy of Science (UNAS) and National Space Agency of Ukraine (NSAU) together with representatives of scientific schools and NTUU "Igor Sikorsky KPI" administration discussed at the meeting that took place in the university, on 13th December, the issue of cooperation development and creation of common Scientific and Educational Center of Space Research and Technologies.
