Kiev Polytechnic Institute commenced the cooperation with the University of Ankara (the Turkish Republic). The framework memorandum on such cooperation was signed on September, 28, by the Rector of the KPI, the academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Michael Zgurovskyi and the rector of the University of Ankara, Professor Erkan Ibish.
The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Turkey in Ukraine Ionet Jan Thaisel, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine in the Republic of Turkey in 2009 - 2016 Sergey Korsunsky, Vice-rector of Ankara University Aikhan Elmali, Director of the Institute of Nuclear Research of Ankara University Niyazi Merić, international affairs coordinator of Ankara University Ilkhan Karasubashi, second secretary of the Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of Turkey Yevgeny I Haber, Deputy Director of "Energoatom" Wladyslaw Janiszewski and others took part in the ceremony and preliminary discussion of cooperation issues. Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute was represented by the Vice-rector on international relations, Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Serhiy Sidorenko, Director of the Center of International Education of the University Volodymyr Koval, dean of the Heat and Power Engineering Department Yevgenii Pysmenny, Head of the Department of Foreign Economic Activity of the University Andriy Shisholin etc.
One of the main areas of cooperation should be the training of specialists in the field of nuclear energy. Therefore, preparation and signing of the Memorandum was preceded by a detailed acquaintance of representatives of the Turkish University with HPED, a visit to the Institute of Nuclear Research of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and its Training Center for Physical Protection, Accounting and Control of Nuclear Materials named after George Kuzmich, which currently trains specialists in physical security for nuclear power plants; normative documents were concluded in the field of nuclear safety, as well as departure to the Zaporizhzhya NPP. The basic unit of the KPI interested in the establishment of such cooperation will be the Heat and Power Engineering Department. It is here that the training of engineers of the corresponding profile is carried out and the faculty has everything necessary to ensure its proper quality.
