From 16 to 18 September, the final round of the Ukrainian Mathematical Olympiad among technical universities was held in Sumy, on the basis of Sumy State University (SSU).

Since May 201 a volunteering for the benefit of the armed forces involved in the area of anti-terrorist operations started  by the initiative group of staff and students of the Faculty .

March 13, the famous singer, songwriter and social activist and leader of the band "Okean Elzy" Sviatoslav Vakarchuk met with students of NTUU "KPI".

On November, 7 at NTUU "KPI" was held a working meeting of representatives of Ukrainian universities who are involved in the development of national programmes of student micro- and nanosatellites with the first President of Ukraine Leonid Kravchuk.

Team KPI Rugby "Polytechnic" was created in 1962 by Valentin Hannem (student of 2nd course of the faculty of automation and instrumentation), who was a talented Sprinter.

March 20, a fair "Education in Japan" was held at the Center of Culture and Arts NTUU "KPI".

December 14 Ambassador of Japan Toichi Sakata donated to the State Polytechnic Museum at "KPI" Japanese model of space rocket "H-IIB".

On the 2nd of September in NTUU “KPI” an unusual event took place.

The second president of Ukraine Leonid Danilovich Kuchma was awarded at ceremonial meeting of administrative council of NTUU "KPI" on November 25 on the occasion of assignment to it ranks "The honourable doctor of NTUU "KPI", the cloak and a breastplate is handed.
