On the 11th of March honorable doctor of NTUU “KPI”, professor of University of Vienna Herbert Mang (Austria) spoke to students, aspirants and lecturers with the lecture on “Past, present and future researches on sustainability of engineering structures”.

Herbert Mang dedicated his lecture to review of the results of researches in the area of sustainability of engineering structures, began with the works of Leonard Ayler and Stepan Timoshenko and finished with some results of his own scientific researches, modern state in this discipline and perspectives of its further development.

Boston College delegation, headed by master of Physical college of arts and sciences department of this educational institution doctor Michael Nowton, took place from 4th to 7th of March in NTUU “KPI”

Associate Professor, Department of Information and Telecommunication Systems ESITS Tatyana Kot, who won the university competition "The young teacher-researcher - 2014", works in the Kiev Polytechnic for six years.

Range of methodical seminars took place at the Intercollegiate Institute of Medical Engineering (IIME) Department in January with participation of professors, students and guests from other departments.

Frederic Franciszek Chopin was born February 22, 1810 (according to other sources March 1, 1810) in Zelazowa Wola, near Warsaw. He lived in a musical environment and in 5 years already independently perform simple plays.

On February, 22 NTUU "KPI" hosted a ceremony of announcing the results of the "Intel Techno Ukraine 2013"competition of the national phase of international Competition «Intel ISEF» in science and engineering activity among school students.

Representatives of the organizational staff and the jury announced the names of the winners in five categories from the scene of the NTUU "KPI" Center of Culture and Arts and presented them with gifts. The contest participants were also provided with diplomas and certificates of international scientific societies of American Meteorological Society, Materials Foundation ASM, the Association of Earth female researchers, National Mathematical Society of high schools and colleges and the Society of Biology in vitro.

February is not the ordinary month for solemn graduation events. But for many years winter is the time when students of Military Institute of Telecommunications and Informatization of NTUU “KPI”, who showed impressive results in education and went on studying to get Master’s Degree graduate from this department.

Independent Ukraine inherited a distorted system of higher education from the USSR. On the one hand, this system was developed enough as a part of the natural fundamental, technical, medical, pedagogical, military training, and on the other hand being mounted in the centrally planned economy, it was extremely insensitive to the changes, highly specialized, had excessive ideologization of the educational process, narrowed principles of democracy. Since 1991, the state faced the task to regulate the activities of such system in the new socio-political conditions, balance it with the needs of transition economy and society.
