Yaroslav graduated from the Faculty of Welding in 2015 (the department is currently part of the E.O. Paton Educational and Scientific Institute of Materials Science and Welding).
In April 2024, he joined the State Border Guard Service to defend Ukraine. He was a 2nd category border guard inspector, a grenadier in the 2nd section of border guard inspectors of the 3rd border guard post of the 2nd border guard department (type C) of the 3rd rapid response border guard command.
He was killed by an FPV drone while covering four of his comrades on the outskirts of the village of Mala Vovcha in the Vovchanska community of the Chuhuiv district in the Kharkiv region.
