The state through the National Research Fund of Ukraine allocates funds (over 1 billion 373 million UAH for 2020-2022) for research. This year NRFU held two competitions: "Science for the Security of Man and Society" (Competition 1) and "Support for Research of Leading and Young Scientists" (Competition 2). National and international experts were involved in the evaluation of the works submitted to the competitions. This is the first time that such national grant system to support the research of all those involved in scientific activities was created in Ukraine.
Higher education institutions and academic research institutions took part in the competitions. Their results were announced on September 22 on fund's web-site.
The analysis of the results showed that the Higher Education Institutes and academic institutions on an equal footing participated in NRFU competitions both in terms of the number of projects supported and the amount of funding.
Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute was third in the total leader board in terms of total funding and second among Higher Education Institutes. Our university will receive UAH 68.6 million as the main organization and another UAH 2 million as a co-executor.
In total, 18 projects were submitted to the NRFU competitions from the Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute. Ten of them received grants from NRFU - five projects in each competition. Within three years, the winning projects will receive funding.
"For Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute this means a significant increase in the ability of scientists to implement their plans - they will receive significant financial support. The projects include money not only for salaries, but also for equipment. Compared to the competition of the Ministry of Education and Science, there are fewer restrictions on payment and the possibility of spending these funds, "said Vitaliy Pasichnyk, Vice-Rector for Research at Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute.
