Environmental crimes committed by russian troops cause irreparable damage to the environment. Natural resources suffer from bombing and mining of territories, construction of fortifications, and destruction of buildings. According to KOVA, as of the beginning of 2024, more than 28.8 thousand objects were damaged in the Kyiv region. Among them are almost 26 thousand private and multi-storey buildings. We need to not only get rid of this garbage, but also apply an ecological principle to its disposal. Sort, recycle and reuse the material.

Carlo Colonnella, Director of the Italian Institute of Culture in Kyiv at the Embassy of Italy in Ukraine, and Paolo Coya, designer and architect, organizer of the Italian Design Day, told about the plans for the event during their visit to our university.

The National Technical University of Ukraine "Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute" in partnership with the Poznan University of Technology (Poland) is implementing a large-scale international project entitled "Community Empowerment: Crisis-Ready Solutions". Funded by the NATO Science for Peace and Security Programme (NATO SPS G6119), the project is intended to strengthen the resilience to crisis challenges of local communities in Ukraine and Poland.

How are ideas for developing a new technology and tool born? This question arises when you get acquainted with the materials of fundamental and applied research, which are carried out simultaneously with the educational process on the basis of two departments of the Educational and Research Institute of Materials Science and Welding named after E.O. Paton ( Institute of IMZ) of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute - the Department of Physical Materials Science and Heat Treatment (FMTO) and the Department of Laser Engineering and Physical and Technical Technologies (LTFT).

We are all witnessing a tragic story unfolding before our eyes. We are paying a high price for the right to be free and independent. And our common task is to preserve the historical truth, to pass on to future generations documented evidence of both the horrors of war and, at the same time, the lessons of courage and unity, cohesion and initiative that the people of Kyiv region demonstrated to prevent the enemy from entering the capital.

In 2023, a comprehensive monitoring of drinking water quality across Ukraine, was conducted at the Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, supported by WaterNet, the first All-Ukrainian professional public organization of specialists on water treatment.

The Educational and Research Institute of Mechanical Engineering (Institute of MMI) of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute has successfully completed participation in the project ‘Renovation of Education in the field of aircraft construction’ (uCAREER) and showed high results in creating innovative, employer-oriented, certified educational programmes for the training of creative and competent graduate engineers to meet the requirements of the labour market.

In July 2024, the implementation of a joint international European project was completed, within the framework of which 8 seminars ‘Scientists Meet Scientists. Wednesday Coffee Talks’ (Seminar Series titled ’Scientists Meet Scientists. Wednesday Coffee Talks"), dedicated mainly to the problems of multidisciplinarity of socio-economic, environmental and climatic sections and digitalisation of society.

In early July 2024, the Summer School “Shaping the Urban Environment for Tomorrow” was held in the “smart shelter” of the Denysenko Scientific and Technical Library of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute. 

"Unique" and "the first in Ukraine" - these definitions were most often heard on January 25 from the participants of the opening of the multifunctional shelter CLUST SPACE for students, teachers and staff of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute in the university's Scientific and Technical Library named after H.I. Denysenko.
