On March 21, Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute and the Shibaura Institute of Technology (Japan) signed a Memorandum of Understanding and a Framework Cooperation Agreement.

The memorandum is devoted to the main issues of exchanges of teachers and students of both institutions of higher education, from who will pay salaries to teachers for travel time (the sending party), and to the term of stay of students in exchange for study (it should be not shorter than the length of reading a certain course, or duration of the research project, but it cannot exceed one year), etc. The agreement defines the main directions of joint activity (educational, scientific and innovative), its forms and organizational aspects.

On behalf of the university, the documents were signed by the vice-rector on international affairs Sergiy Sydorenko, on behalf of the Shibaura Institute of Technology – Professor of the faculty of biological sciences and engineering, Akihiko Hanafusa.

Before signing, the issues of cooperation between the Faculty of Biological Sciences and the Engineering of the Shibaura Institute of Technology and the Biomedical Engineering Faculty of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute were discussed. It began with mutual presentations: Professor Akihiko Hanafusa spoke about the Institute of Shibaura, his faculty of biological sciences and engineering and the scientific work being conducted there, and the dean of the Faculty of Biomedical Engineering of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute Vitaliy Maksimenko spoke about the faculty, research conducted by its employees and students and their results. Participating in a meeting with a colleague from Japan was The head of the Department of Translational Medical Engineering of FBMI Olexandr Galkin, Head of the Department of Biosafety and Human Health Ihor Khudetsky, Head of the Department of Biomedical Cybernetics Yevhen Nastenko, Director of the Ukrainian-Japanese Center Kateryna Lugovska, trainee of the Japanese program MIRAI student of 4th year of study, group BM-51 of the faculty of biomedical engineering Yurii Tsyban and others.
