On the basis of the Institute of Nuclear and Thermal Energy of the KPI, the first in Ukraine educational and scientific center "Reliability and Safety of NPPs" operates.
The laboratory has a nuclear reactor control panel simulator. For KPI students, this is a unique opportunity to gain practical experience, because nuclear power provides more than half of Ukraine's electricity, so safe operation of nuclear power plants is extremely important today.
The Institute of Nuclear and Thermal Energy plans to build its own small model reactor that would provide electricity to the entire campus of Kyiv Polytechnic.
