Under the international academic mobility program Erasmus+ distinguished academics in the field of electronics and electric engineering from leading European universities visited Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute in mid-February. We had the privilege to meet professor Armando Khose Pineyro Markes Pires, professor Viktor Manuel de Karvalyo Fernao Pires (Polytechnic institute, Setubal, Portuguese republic) and professor Marchyn Holub (West Pomeranian University of Technologies, Szczecin, Poland).

Pro-rector of international activity S.I. Sydorenko welcomed the quests, the head of academic mobility department O.V. Lubyanova held a presentation of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute. The professor Yu.S.Yamnenko told about educational and scientific activities of the Faculty of Electronics and the Department of Industrial Electronics. The meeting attendees shared their experiences and exchanged their opinions about scientific process structuring, youth motivation to personal, professional and academic development. 

Signing of framework agreement about cooperation between Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute and Polytechnic Institute of Setubal took place on 13th February 2019 in solemn atmosphere. As distinct from Portuguese Republic guests, West Pomeranian University of Technologies scientists visit Kyiv and our university not for the first time. Effective cooperation and mutual visits of students and lecturers were started already in 2016. As the results of the cooperation the settlement about intentions was signed, students of Faculty of Electronics defended some master’s theses. There is a plan to sign a framework deal between universities. 

European scientists took part in international research and technology event «The week of Industrial Electronics». It took place at Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute by order of rector in the period of time from 11 to 15 February 2019.

A lecture course about the most pressing problems was organized for students, postgraduates and Faculty of Electronic and other faculties scientists. The lections took place in a friendly atmosphere. The items under discussion were very interesting and they are front and center for modern youths, therefore there were many questions, comments and discussions. Viktor Pires’ lections aroused strong interest in new achievements in a field of topology of modern schemes transformers for photovoltaic installations. Also was interesting to listen Armando Pires’ lection about innovative solutions of energetic effectiveness improvement, enhancement of constructions and guide principles of electric drive with commuted magnetic resistance.  Marchyn Holub’s lection had provocative title «Electro­mobility – are we at the edge of a revolution?», it was dedicated to history and prospects of electric cars industry revolutionary development, what not-so-distant future holds.

What is more, invited spokesmen brought listeners up to speed on special aspects of educational system in Portuguese and Poland, prospects of study and internship programs for all students of all educational backgrounds, opportunities and advantages of participation in grant schemes. Also they told about their intentions to continue cooperation in the way of students and academic exchanges, research studies, taking part in conferences and sharing professional experiences.

The program of the event «The week of Industrial Electronics» also included series of meetings with representatives of universities, academic institutions and industrial establishments, visiting of laboratories, research and international study centers. The impressive cultural program also included visiting the Polytechnic Museum at Ukrainian National Technical University "Kiev Polytechnic Institute", the Scientific and Technical Library, the Avenues of outstanding scientists of the university. The quests had a look at innovative projects of the holding «Sikorsky challenge» and Science park «Kyiv Polytechnic». Students and lecturers of the Department of Industrial Electronics organized a tour of the Kyiv, the quests had an opportunity to take a look at historic and cultural landmarks, museums and exhibitions, Andriyivsky uzviz and orthodox churches.

The quests were satisfied with the level of organization and the results of the event, they expressed their hopes for further successful growth of cooperation between universities.
