Professor Volodymyr Ohiyevsky: The man who stood at the origins of Ukrainian Radio

On November 16, 2024, we celebrated the 100th anniversary of Ukrainian Radio. It was on this day in 1924 that its first program was broadcast. It was a radio concert by the Viem Violin Quartet. It was broadcast by the first Ukrainian broadcasting station, which was equipped in Kharkiv, the capital of Ukraine at the time, by a group of Ukrainian engineers and technicians under the leadership of Volodymyr Ohiievskyi, a lecturer at the Kyiv Polytechnic Institute. Later, Ogievsky led the construction and launch of similar stations in Odesa, Dnipro, Tiraspol, and other cities.

Christmas trip to the museum

The Museum of the History of the City of Kyiv has once again pleasantly surprised its visitors. This time, with a festive Christmas and New Year's exhibition. The exhibition recreates the atmosphere of the old Kyiv of the early twentieth century during Christmas and New Year, where folk traditions were combined with fashionable European trends. So visitors can travel through time to the most interesting locations of the pre-holiday city.

The All-Ukrainian Conference of ULA took place in the Library of the Year

From November 20 to 22, 2024, the All-Ukrainian Conference of the Ukrainian Library Association (ULA) was held at the Denysenko Scientific and Technical Library. It worked in a mixed format and gathered almost one hundred participants in person and 170 online from 23 regions of Ukraine. The theme of the conference was symbolic from all points of view - “Ukrainian Library Association - together we can do more”.

KPI library has its own Prometheus

Artificial intelligence technologies, or as they are now often called, AI, are rapidly entering or, rather, breaking into all spheres of public and private life. A new reality is being born right before our eyes. AI can help people in a variety of ways, but, as some scientists warn, it can also be harmful in other ways. Nevertheless, its triumphant march across the world continues. It is really useful, and soon we may not be able to imagine our lives without this tireless assistant. Recently, AI started working in the Scientific and Technical Library of KPI. Library director Yevheniia Kulyk told KP about what it will do there and what it is already doing. By the way, in Ukraine, Hryhorii Denysenko STL became the first library to implement this technology in its activities.

At the plenary meeting of the III session of the Kyiv City Council of the IX convocation on September 19, 2024, the deputies decided by a majority vote to rename the street where the building No. 28 of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute stands in honor of the outstanding Ukrainian scientist and politician M.A. Pavlovsky, whose entire professional career and scientific achievements are associated with Kyiv Polytechnic.
