The leader of technical education in Ukraine, Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, actively cooperates with external partners to upgrade its training and laboratory facilities and implements educational programs adapted to the needs of the labor market and high-tech business. For several years now, the RTF has been operating a Datacom laboratory equipped with powerful modern Huawei equipment. Not only radio engineering students, but also KPI students from other faculties can study there.

The Datacom educational and research laboratory is managed by Oleksandr Myronchuk, associate professor of the Department of Radio Engineering Systems. On the basis of educational materials provided by Huawei Ukraine and with the support of the Department of Foreign Economic Activity of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, he created the discipline “Huawei Telecommunication Networks”, which later became part of the certificate program “Huawei Network Technologies”. So, after studying this discipline, students have the opportunity to pass an exam at Huawei and receive a HCIA-Datacom specialist certificate.

“First of all, the laboratory is designed to improve students' practical skills in the basics of telecommunications and networking. It is equipped with a projector, laptops, and powerful Huawei equipment such as switches, routers, and access point controllers, which allows students to apply their knowledge in practice and gain skills in designing, configuring, and maintaining computer networks,” says Oleksandr Yuriiovych. “By the way, in the 2022-2023 academic year, under his leadership, with the support of partners and graduates, the staff of the Faculty of Radio Engineering made modern repairs to the premises and equipped the Datacom laboratory, which contributes to the popularization of technical education and bringing the provision of educational services at Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute to a new level,” the scientist's colleagues say.

By the way, Oleksandr Myronchuk is a graduate of Kyiv Polytechnic, a 2015 RTF graduate. He is reserved about himself, but the facts speak for themselves. From 2016 to 2020, he studied at Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute's postgraduate program, defended his dissertation in 2021 and received a PhD in Telecommunications and Radio Engineering, specialty 172. Moreover, since 2016, he has worked as an assistant at the Department of Radio Engineering Devices and Systems, and since 2021 - as a senior lecturer. In 2024, he was promoted to associate professor.

It should be noted that the scientist has a wide range of professional interests: broadband data transmission systems, radar systems, embedded systems, Internet of Things (IoT) systems, etc. He is the author and co-author of 10 scientific articles, 8 textbooks, and more than 30 presentations at international and national conferences. He recently completed an internship at the Czech Technical University under the Nikola Sohaj program. As a responsible executor and supervisor, he participated in the implementation of two initiative research works on the estimation of wireless channel parameters in OFDM communication systems. Currently, he is the executor of the tasks of the perspective plan for the development of the scientific direction “Technical Sciences” of the National Technical University of Ukraine “Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute”.

As the head of the “Embedded Systems” engineering group at the Department of Radio Engineering Systems, the researcher actively engages his students in scientific creativity. Students gain knowledge and practical experience by working on real projects. “The group was created to prepare students for independent engineering work, as well as to provide favorable conditions for the comprehensive intellectual development of students of the Faculty of Radio Engineering and gifted youth,” the mentor says. ”The members of the group are developing specialized control, monitoring, and data processing systems based on microcontrollers, microprocessors, and digital signal processors. They acquire practical skills in designing electronic devices and systems, from formulating technical specifications to manufacturing a working prototype.”

In particular, the students created the “Interactive Logo” - the backlit logo of the Faculty of Radio Engineering, located in the lobby of building No. 17. The backlighting is realized with the help of RGB LED strips. The backlighting modes consist of a set of patterns that provide both stationary glow and color animations. The control is carried out using the bot's telegrams. Users can choose and set the desired mode on their own. Visitors to the Faculty of Radio Engineering are happy to take pictures near the logo. The system is especially interesting for applicants and is an important element in the popularization of technical education in Ukraine, the department believes.

Quite naturally, the effective work of the young scientist did not go unnoticed. In 2024, Oleksandr Myronchuk was awarded the Diploma of the Academic Council of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute for his significant personal contribution, fruitful scientific activity and high professional achievements and was recognized as the winner of the Young Lecturer-Researcher 2023 competition. And recently, as part of the young management team of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, he was appointed Vice-Rector for Infrastructure Development. In this position, he will be able to realize his achievements and skills even more fully to develop and strengthen the best technical university in the country. Of course, the young leader dreams of further popularizing technical education in Ukraine, sharing relevant practical experience with students and making KPI even better.

“The place where the future is born!” - this is the slogan that opens the RTF website. Indeed, young scientists who have grown up and gain experience in KPI are able to create the future, starting with the reconstruction of the country and contributing to its economic development.”
