Mechanical subdepartment (later – Department of Mechanical Engineering and now - Institute of Mechanical Engineering of NTUU " KPI") dates back to 1898 and together with Chemical Engineering Department is fthe same age as the Kyiv Politechnik.
The department the environmental biotechnology and bioenergy (DEB) was established in 2004. According to the Regulations of the DEB, it provides training of bachelors and masters in the field "Environmental biotechnology" as well as highly qualified specialists.
Chapel of KPI is 60! It is a short time for the institution, but for the student choir it is a large period. Every five years its participants change (during this time 12 generations of students have changed!).
In November 2006, the Institute of Energy Saving and Energy Management has its 60th anniversary. The instituit is the successor of the Faculty of Mining, Faculty of Mining Electromechanics and Automation, and partially of the Faculty of Electric Power Engineering and Automation.
The 6rd of April is the 100th anniversary of the birth of Alexander Ivanovich Butuzov ( 1906- 1992 ) - intelligent person, teacher, administrator, talented scientist and social worker.
The department of physical chemistry of the KPI was established 105 years ago. As science and university subject physical chemistry was just born then, and was the first such department in the Russian Empire. Not only the name but also the themes of the department seemed unusual then.
Metallurgy as an academic and scientific discipline (at the beginning of its origin was called “metallography”) was founded in KPI in 1910 at the mechanical faculty in the department of general metals technology. The department of metallography and heat treatment headed by prof. Y. P.
Preparing of foundry engineer in “Kyiv Polytechnic Institute” has begun from the very beginning of Institute foundation. The Department of Metallurgy was organized by Professor V.P. Izhevsky in 1902 year on Chemistry Section, and the General Metals Technology Department was organized by Professor M.A. Voropaev in 1910 year on Mechanics Section. Several foundry engineers graduated from Mechanics and Chemistry faculties in accordance with Diploma design process up to 1925 year.
There were a lot of anniversaries of the chair of automation and control in technical systems (AUTS) in memory of its founders. One of the authors of this article is Ksenia Veremiyivna Biba.
