History of the National Polytechnic Institute is made by, first of all, people, outstanding personalities who diligently during decades are creating and building up the unique environment, which is proudly called KPI Planet. Despite all the cataclysms, changes and improvements the planet continues to develop attracting talented young people, who become modern specialists and popular at the labour market in few years. And they always gratefully remember their mentors, teachers KPI, which were taught to pave the way to science, to share knowledge and experience, supported and inspired them. The person who can rightly be proud of his alumni and who is proud of his followers - Julian Michajlovich Tuz, Professor, the Head of Department, Director of the Research Institute of Automation experimental studies, winner of the contest "teacher-researcher - 2012" .
Julian Michajlovich works in Kiev Polytechnic Institute since 1956, has gone the way from a student (graduated 1958), senior laboratory assistant, assistant, senior lecturer to associate professor (1967) and professor (1973). Since 1978 he is the Head of the Department of automation of experimental studies since 1993 - director of the Research Institute of Automation of experimental studies. From 1975 to 1984 he worked as dean of Electrical Appliance Construction and Computer Engineering Faculties (now FIVT).
Yu.M.Tuz created a scientific school of automation of experimental studies. Trained 30 candidates and 3 PhD. His paper in "Development of scientific- methodical bases and creating highly progressive base for industrial automation experiment" was awarded with the State Prize of Ukraine in Science and Technology in 1994. He has published over 430 scientific papers, including 9 monographs and textbooks. Yu.M.Tuz has more than 100 patents of Germany, UK, Sweden , Hungary and Ukraine. He is a member of two specialized councils on doctoral dissertations. Member of the Working Group of the State Scientific and Technical Program "Future of computer equipment, analytical instrumentation and telecommunications ".
Yu.M.Tuz worked as head of USSR Ministry of Higher Education Coordinating Board to issue "Automation Research" and a member of the advisory boards for the USSR Ministry of the problem of "resistance", "Computer-aided research". He worked as the head master and doctoral councils.
Yu.M.Tuz supervises over 50 research and development works. He developed and implemented in mass production for more than 30 devices and systems. Awarded with "Mark of Honor" and medals of the USSR, two silver and three bronze medals of the Exhibition of achievements of the national economy. Winner of two awards for the best KPI tutorials.
Headed by Professor Yu.M.Tuz Automation Research Institute carries out experimental research projects for government programs Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Education, the Committee on information security, oil and gas industry, China, Germany. Following the development and implementation of standard AC voltage entered in the register of standards of Ukraine NTUU "KPI" received a certificate of the manufacturer and supplier of products for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In 1994 at the Department was the presentation of teaching and research laboratories of the State Committee on Science and Technology of Ukraine, in 1997 - the newly established laboratories firms Motorola and Analog Device, in 2008 - Center Technology Corp. National Instruments, in 2010 - Texas Instruments laboratories. The Department carries out an agreement on scientific and technical cooperation with universities in Germany, Poland and Italy. A project within the STCU is executed. There is wide student exchange with foreign universities.
Yu.M.Tuz is Chairman of the Scientific and Methodological subcommittee of Ukraine in branch of education "Metrology and measuring technologies ." He is the member of the Advisory Board of Accreditation Commission of Ukraine, of mixed German- Ukrainian commission which has developed an agreement on mutual recognition of educational documents of High School between Ukraine and Germany (since 1998 will come into force). He is a member of the New York Academy of Sciences and the American Society of electronics' engineers, academician Aerospace Academy, a member of the scientific organizing committee of the Academic Council of the University and others.
