It all started with the initiative of the student council of the Faculty of Electronics FEL Famsly to organize a student competition aimed at improving the landscaping of the university and dedicated to the 125th anniversary of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute.
The female student team of the Faculty of Informatics and Computer Engineering — CODE BRYKSY consisting of Liudmyla Horbunova, Svitlana Barytska, Viktoriia Myts and Yelyzaveta Horbunova became one of the winners of the SheBuilds Ukraine Hackathon.
The final of the SmaRTF hackathon among engineering students was held at Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute. About 60 teams and 200 participants from different parts of Ukraine and Poland took part in it.

NASA Space Apps Challenge 2022 is the largest international annual space and science hackathon organized with the support of the US National Space Agency in different countries. Its participants join teams and tackle challenges from NASA.
In early October 2021, with the support of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, the local phase of the NASA International Space Apps Challenge took place. The NGO “Noosphere Association” hosted the event in Dnieper.
On November 15-19, the National Hackathon on Cyber Security (NHCS) took place in Kyiv. The event has been organized by the State Service for Special Communication and Information Protection of Ukraine together with the Centre for Strategic Communications StratCom Ukraine.
The all-Ukrainian large-scale engineering hackathon SmaRTF will include the following areas: robotics, programming, engineering, electronics, and design.
A total of 9 teams from 6 NATO member countries (USA, Estonia, Poland, Germany, Turkey, Great Britain) participated. 6 teams from Ukraine took part in the competition.
As part of the TechnoArtKPI Festival, which is held annually to promote engineering among schoolchildren, an online hackathon Hack Space for Earth took place in early June 2021.
