🤖 How can artificial intelligence be used to predict plasma behavior and improve reactor safety? This was the challenge taken on by participants in the three-day “Plasma Code” ML hackathon at Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute.

📃 Organized by the Faculty of Physics and Mathematics in cooperation with the Abitly platform, the event brought together more than 50 participants working in 10 teams.

⬇️ Students and early-career professionals explored the intersection of data science and engineering. They:

🔸 analyzed datasets containing measurements from the European JET tokamak;
🔸 developed their own machine learning models to predict plasma conditions;
🔸 tested physics-based hypotheses to train algorithms to detect dangerous changes in plasma in advance;
🔸 consulted with mentors and presented their solutions to an expert jury.

🎥 How did the participants use code to tame superheated plasma, and what was the atmosphere like during the hackathon? Watch the video to find out.
