The first ESG-REBOOT: Education, Engineering and Ecology in a Single System of Responsibility was held at Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute.
This is the first large-scale event in the framework of cooperation with the ESG Liga PAEW and the Office of Sustainable Solutions, initiated by the Faculty of Chemical Engineering (IHF).
It was the first time that the topic of ESG as an interdisciplinary approach covering environmental responsibility, social aspects and quality management was raised at this level within the university space. The event was attended by representatives of the Faculty of Engineering and Chemistry (IHF), the Faculty of Sociology and Law (FSP) and the Educational and Research Institute of Energy Saving and Energy Management (Institute of IEE), who were not just listeners, but active participants in discussions, moderators and speakers.
📌 During the event, messages about trust as a new currency of responsibility, the power of data that shapes the impact economy, and the role of youth as a driving force for change were heard, as well as inspiring speeches:
- Lyudmyla Tsyhanok (founder of ESG Liga, CEO of the Office of Sustainable Solutions, president of PAEW);
- Sergiy Stirenko (Vice-Rector for Research at Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute);
- Olena Ivanenko (Acting Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Chemistry);
- representatives of government agencies, business and the expert community.
It is important that students not only had the opportunity to hear about real cases of implementing ESG principles, but also to receive practical advice.
📌 Particular attention was paid to career opportunities for students in the field of ecology, sustainable development, ESG analytics and consulting. Speakers from leading companies provided students with new requirements for the professions of the future:
- ArcelorMittal;
- Ernst & Young;
- Farmak;
- METRO Ukraine;
- Esmil Process Systems Ltd;
- L'Oréal Ukraine;
- Ukrzaliznytsia, etc.
Some examples of effective stakeholder engagement as a result of this ESG-REBOOT include expanded cooperation with Ernst & Young, as well as cooperation on military environmental challenges, including research, analytics and relevant educational initiatives.
ESG-REBOOT has proven that young people are not the object of change, but its driving force! Let's continue to unite key stakeholders of sustainable development in the educational space of our university!
