On March 26, 2025, the Faculty of Chemical Technology of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute held a scientific and educational event “Chemical Technologies in Action” for schoolchildren and everyone interested in the framework of the KPISchool engineering week. The main purpose of the event was to familiarize participants with modern chemical technologies, demonstrate their practical application and popularize chemical science among young people.

Vadym Potaskalov, Head of the Department of General and Inorganic Chemistry, welcomed the future applicants, young KMAN researchers and their parents, to the Big Chemical Auditorium of the HTF, emphasizing the importance of chemical technologies in the modern world, in particular in such areas as pharmaceuticals, energy, food industry, construction industry, new materials technology and ecology. Lecturers and leading researchers of the faculty Veronika Efimova, Andrii Kushko, Nataliia Zhdaniuk, Oleksii Sikorskyi, Andrii Lapinskyi, Oleksandr Buket made presentations on the areas of research conducted at the departments of the Faculty of Chemical Technology. A number of interesting chemical experiments were demonstrated. The event organizers also answered a number of questions from the audience. And at the end of the event, the staff of the Department of General and Inorganic Chemistry, Olena Shuranova and Tetiana Kushmiruk, presented a series of spectacular chemical experiments that caused delight and applause from the audience. Nataliia Tarasenko, responsible for career guidance, spoke about the specifics of admission and invited applicants to study at the Faculty of Chemical Technology, which trains specialists in the field of G1 (161) “Chemical Technology and Engineering”. Olha Kachorovska, who is responsible for working with the Kyiv Small Academy, invited them to join the research work at the faculty.
The event aroused great interest among the participants, who were able not only to learn more about chemical technologies but also to see them in action. This once again confirmed the importance of popularizing science among young people and the need for such events in the future.
Soon after, on the Facebook page of the Department of General and Inorganic Chemistry, KP editorial board got acquainted with the opinion of Varvara Bratcheni, a 10th grade student of Kyiv Gymnasium No. 178, about her choice of university for further study: "The engineering week I attended during the spring break at KPI helped me finally decide where I wanted to study. Before that, I visited many universities to determine the higher education institution where I would like to study in the near future. I was immediately interested in Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute because I love math and chemistry, and my family thinks I should get a technical specialty. When I learned about the Engineering Week at KPI, I decided that I had to attend this event. Many faculties demonstrated their research achievements, where the attendees had the opportunity to get acquainted with the educational process and prospects for further employment. But it was the Faculty of Chemical Technology that left an unforgettable impression on me. Perhaps because at some point I felt the atmosphere of serious academic activity."

Varvara is grateful for the attention of the faculty students who helped her navigate the chemical building. Next, she met the faculty of the HTF, observed a number of interesting experiments, and had a question-and-answer session with the professors. She also drew attention to the fact that while studying at the HTF, there is an opportunity to receive education in 2-3 years of foreign universities.
"This opens up new opportunities for students and graduates, providing a level of competitiveness in the modern world," the future applicant emphasizes, "I am pleased that I had the opportunity to attend this event, so now I am even more confident in my future choice. We wish Varvara to make her dream come true.
