Before the International Youth Day, Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko awarded gifted and active young men and women for special achievements in the development of the capital of Ukraine, the hero city of Kyiv, with the Kyiv Mayor's Awards, as well as with commendations for active volunteering during the war.
The competition committee nominated 36 candidates for awarding the prize: 9 for scientific achievements, 15 for creative achievements, 12 for contribution to the development of the youth movement. Also, 32 people received commendations from the Mayor of Kyiv for active volunteering. The size of the prize is 10 thousand hryvnias each.
The representatives of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute are among the laureates:
Victoria Kotlyarova, a senior teacher of Faculty of Electric Power Engineering and Automatics;
Svitlana Yatsenko, a first year master student of the Faculty of Chemical Engineering;
Igor Klymenko, a student of the Faculty of Instrumentation Engineering of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, a graduate of the Polytechnic Lyceum of NTUU "KPI" and the Department of Technical Sciences of Kyiv City Junior Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Department.
"This award is an indicator of the successful activities of young Kyivans who contribute to the development of our city. It was awarded to those who in 2021 made a significant contribution to the youth movement in the creative and scientific fields," Valentyn Mondryivskyy, the Deputy Chairman of the Kyiv City State Administration said.
Yulia Khan, Director of the Department of Youth and Sports of the executive body of the Kyiv City Council (Kyiv City State Administration), informed: "This year, our country goes through a time of bitter trials, namely the war of aggression, which became a great impetus for the development of the volunteer movement. Therefore, I believe that a separate direction should appear in the award regulation - "volunteering", which makes it possible to honour young people who, despite all the difficulties and a possible threat to life, risked themselves to help others.”
Congratulating the laureates, Vitaliy Klitschko noted: "Youth is our bright future, and looking at you, we are sure that our capital will be the best among the capitals of European states." He also noted that young, active and ambitious Kyivans defended our country from the first days of the full-scale war. Some of them took up arms, and others became volunteers, providing everything necessary for our defenders, organising charity concerts, sports events, opening new scientific horizons. Everyone found their frontline and continued to hold it.
"The aggressor destroys residential buildings, schools and kindergartens, infrastructure and enterprises. They kill peaceful Ukrainians, adults and children. They steal our children's childhood. But we stand and fight for our independence and freedom, for the statehood of Ukraine. Our country will become even stronger and more successful! Yes, it will be difficult. But I believe that each of us will go through these trials with dignity. Together we will overcome the challenges that we have to overcome in order to save our state," - he emphasised. In conclusion, V. Klitschko wished the young people of Kyiv victory, strength and self-confidence, inspiration, new scientific discoveries and successful development of the youth movement.
Our newspaper talked about the young lecturer and researcher Viktoria Kotlyarova and her achievements in #39-40 for 2021. Currently, Viktoria Volodymyrivna is finishing work on her PhD thesis at the Department of Electromechanics. Her research area is related to the creation of a new generation of electromechanical disintegrators (EMD) of multifactor action using the latest methodology of genetic prediction and directed synthesis. EMDs belong to highly efficient technological equipment, which is in demand in materials science, nanopowder technologies, food, chemical, electronic and pharmaceutical industries, production of high-quality faience products, in technologies for the preparation of high-quality composite materials, pigments for paints and fillers for plastics, biotechnology, production of hydrocarbon and synthetic fuel mixtures, materials for building industry, etc.
Last year, Svitlana Yatsenko successfully protected her diploma project and obtained a bachelor's degree at the Department of Ecology and Plant Polymers Technology. Her research was related to the technology of production of base paper for competitive sanitary hygiene products. Now she is a master student, and continues improving the main technological processes taking into account the requirements for raw materials, chemicals and finished products.
Igor Klymenko has been actively working on his latest research, Quadcopter Mines Detector for the last two years. "This is a device for remotely searching for mines and determining their coordinates. My team and I have already developed two working prototypes at the laboratory," - said the young researcher. "The development has been successfully presented at numerous competitions and exhibitions: national "Future of Ukraine", "Sikorsky Challenge", as well as international ones where they received gold and silver awards. We are demonstrating to the world that such a device can be created."
Therefore, we congratulate the winners and wish them not to lose their encouragement and stay ambitious and goal-oriented in the development of Ukraine.
