In response to the challenges of our time and with the aim of making education more accessible, Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute (FIOT) is announcing the launch of distance learning. This decision is an important step towards modernizing the educational process, expanding educational opportunities, and creating a comfortable environment for higher education seekers. We analyzed the needs of students, as well as trends in the development of education in Ukraine and worldwide.
Taking into account modern technological capabilities, the growing popularity of online learning, and the need to ensure continuous access to knowledge in any conditions, we are launching distance learning for students in three key IT areas:
F2 “Software Engineering,”
F6 “Information Systems and Technologies,”
F7 “Computer Engineering”
This decision was a logical continuation of the digital transformation of education and a response to the modern needs of the labor market.
The distance learning process is organized using modern digital platforms (Moodle, Google Classroom, Zoom, etc.), which allow students to:
- participate in real-time video lectures (simultaneously with full-time students);
- watch recorded classes at a convenient time;
- take tests and submit assignments online;
- communicate with teachers via chat rooms, forums, and video meetings.
Students receive all necessary learning materials in electronic form and have access to the electronic library and other university resources.
The main advantages of distance learning are the opportunity to:
- study from anywhere in Ukraine or the world (no need to spend money on travel, accommodation in a dormitory or transport);
- gain modern knowledge through digital environments – Moodle, GitHub, Microsoft Teams, Zoom, integrated with version control systems, online code editors, and cloud services;
- re-access materials – all lectures, presentations, and practical classes are stored on the platforms, so they can be reviewed at a convenient time for deeper study of the topic
- combine theoretical training with practice during your studies
- preparation for remote work — distance learning is the ideal start to a career in remote or freelance work.
The launch of distance learning programs in Software Engineering, Information Systems and Technologies, and Computer Engineering is a strategic step for the university in creating an education that meets the challenges of the digital age. This is a chance for applicants to realize their potential in the IT field, regardless of their place of residence, and become part of a global innovation community.
