This year, the Educational and Scientific Institute of Atomic and Thermal Power Engineering (IATE Institute), established on the basis of the Faculty of Thermal Power Engineering at Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute (KPI), celebrates its 95th anniversary.

University media have already reported that last September, on the sidelines of the 69th session of the IAEA General Conference in Vienna, KPI Rector Anatoliy Melnychenko signed a joint document with Rafael Grossi, Director General of this leading international organization on atomic energy, outlining practical agreements between the organization and the university regarding cooperation in the field of nuclear and physical safety and technologies, as well as the development of educational programs in these areas, etc. It should be added that during the conference, the rector also met with the heads of a number of international organizations in the field of nuclear energy, in particular the World Institute for Nuclear Security (WINS). And on February 16, a new meeting took place with one of WINS’ leaders—its Executive Director Lars van Dassen, who headed the World Institute’s delegation that visited Igor Sikorsky KPI that day.

The State Academic Scholarships named after the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred honor the heroic deeds of the youngest members of the Heavenly Hundred. Each scholarship is named after one of the heroes and is awarded to students majoring in the same field as that person. "The Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred Scholarship is both a way to support talented youth and to honor our recent history. We thank the universities for their transparent selection process and guarantee adequate funding for the program. I believe that these students will carry the values of freedom and dignity into their professions and communities,” said Oksen Lisovyi, Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine.

So it makes sense that this is where the finals of the 5th All-Ukrainian Engineering Hackathon SmaRTF took place—an event that was not just another competition, but a true symbol of our times, in which technical thinking takes on strategic importance.

Department of Rare and Valuable Documents of the H.I. Denisenko Scientific and Technical Library is 10 years old!

The H.I. Denisenko Scientific and Technical Library comprises many important departments that provide ongoing, high-quality support for the university’s educational and research activities. Some departments have existed since the university’s inception, while others were established quite recently. Among the latter is the Department of Rare and Valuable Documents. In late fall 2025, it celebrated its 10th anniversary.

Andriy Makarchuk: “Comprehensive communication always yields results”

At the end of last year, the Ministry of Education and Science issued an order on the awarding of the President of Ukraine’s academic scholarships to graduate students for the 2025/2026 academic year. These scholarships will be awarded to candidates with outstanding scientific or academic achievements as an incentive for their work and motivation to achieve high results. Among the recipients is Andriy Makarchuk, an assistant professor in the Department of Software Engineering in Energy at the Institute of IATE.

All-Ukrainian Creative Works Competition for Integrity Week 2025

At the end of last year, our university hosted the All-Ukrainian Creative Works Competition for the second time, dedicated to fostering a culture of integrity and combating corruption. This project, organized by the Authorized Officer for the Prevention and Detection of Corruption at Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute in collaboration with the Faculty of Sociology and Law, ran from October 10 to December 9, 2025, and was open to students from higher education institutions across Ukraine.
