It’s hard to imagine the former student whose heart wont pant after hearing such words as “aerohydromechanics” and “mechanotronics” in case he dreams about new discoveries and improvements of different technical devices. So, 6 years ago Glib Simko became a student of Mechanical Engineering faculty. And he confirms the accurateness of the choice not only by dreams about the future but also by everyday’s hard work and achievements.
He was engaged in the scientific activities at the applied aerohydromechanics and mechanotronics department since he was a second year student; he wrote articles, took part in the conferences of different subjects, attended the science club. Being on the third year of his studies, worked as a laboratory assistant at the applied mechanics department, labored at developing of a laboratory bench (W.P.Lykavenko was his research supervisor). The operating results were presented at the student’s conference.
While studying a discipline called “machine elements” he get acquainted with merited Ukrainian inventor, lecturer Mykhailo Semenovich Tryvailo, who interested the student in the basis of inventions and stimulated him to the creative exploration. As the result of his further efficient work Glib received 2 patents: on solar power generator and electrical generator that works from the vibration of sea waves; the third patent application has also been executed.
Being the fourth year student, the young man decided to realize his potential in community service. Worked as the deputy head of faculty students' council.Glib graduated from NTUU ”KPI” reserve-officer training department .The student gained advanced knowledge and experience. He defended bachelor's degree, devoted to development of the pneumatically-driven manipulator, with an excellent mark.( research supervisor – O.S Ganpuntsurova). Being the fifth year student the aspiration to measure swords with his colleagues from other universities arose. So he took part in All Ukrainian academic competition called “ Mechanotronics in machinery”. Based on the results of individual competition he ranked third and according to the final results of team competitions, command from hydraulic department of NTUU “KPI” has won.
He was also generously endowed with physical ability. Might he has met on his track an unindifferent trainer, there would be one more ambitious basketball player in Ukraine. That is why Glib plays on the sport team to defend honour of his faculty at the university competition.
This year G.Shimko was honoured with Verkhovna Rada scholarship. “It’s not only a reward but also a responsibility and incentive to continue your work”, - reflects the student. In future he plans to engage in scientific and creative activities, prepares to receive post diploma education. At the same time he feels the absence of practical skills and work experience. But the ladder is full of optimism and he is sure that he will be able to put into practice knowledge and skills that he had acquired at KPI.
