Scientific readings devoted to 110th anniversary of academician A.P.Aleksandrov
On April, 2 at the National Polytechnic Museum of NTUU "KPI" the regular scientific readings from the coterie "Famous designers of Ukraine" took place. They were dedicated to the 110th anniversary of one of the most famous Soviet physicists – leading member of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR Anatoly Petrovich Alexandrov.
Nuclear physicist, one of the founders of the Soviet nuclear power science, 9 Orders of Lenin, three times Hero of Socialist Labor, winner of 4 Stalin and Lenin Prizes, Anatoly Alexandrov was born in 1903 in Tarascha, Kyiv region. His was born to become one of the iconic figures of Soviet science. He was working on the great number of most difficult scientific and technical problems and always solved them brilliantly. It was Aleksandrov who constructed a device for degaussing ships , adapting to destroy underwater anti-submarine barriers , he was the developer of judicial power plants for nuclear icebreaker "Lenin ", "Arktika", " Sibir ". He initiated the creation of the largest installations in the USSR - liquefaction of helium, he was directing the development of a nuclear reactor RBMK , several other reactors for civil and military missions, took care of many other problems. In his life there were also sad pages , one of the most tragic of which was a disaster at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant.
Taking into account the amount of academic subject’s inheritance that was left by a prominent physicist, the scientific reading was visited not only by students and scholars of NTUU " KPI", but also by young members of the Small Academy of Sciences, old sailors who served on the nuclear submarines, moreover, they were first who mastered this formidable military equipment, which was developed under the leadership of Anatoly Alexandrov .
After the pro-rector’s of scientific work, the academician of NAS of Ukraine Mikhail Il'chenko’s opening remark, there was the speech "Eminent physicist of the twentieth century - A.P.Aleksandrov " presented by the Hero of Ukraine , Director of the Institute of Magnetism, Member of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Viktor Baryakhtar . He described the stages of scientific biography of Anatoly Petrovich and described his scientific achievements. In addition to this report, there were reports of the senior member of the Institute of Neutron Physics for Nuclear Research, of NAS of Ukraine , PhD in Math, Alexander Kalchenko "Academician A.P.Aleksandrov and Atomic Energy of Ukraine," the retired captain – lieutenant, commander of the remote control , the commander of KVP and A group, battalion commander of survivability nuclear submarines of the first generation - Valery Gorokhovsky reported about "The Sea path of Academician A.P. Alexandrov " and others .
At the end of the readings , participants were shown a documentary film " The ship with a nuclear power Heart ", dedicated to the design and construction of the first Soviet nuclear submarine and its creators .
