The Trade Union Committee of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, with the support of the Ukrainian-Japanese Center, organized the Japanese Summer School for Children for the second time. The cultural program was designed to introduce participants to Japanese culture, language, traditions, and arts.
Each day, the children discovered something new. They explored their creativity through oshibana and suminagashi workshops, played the strategic board games shogi and go, prepared traditional Japanese sweets such as dorayaki and nerikiri, learned Bon Odori dances, took part in a Japanese tea ceremony, and practiced calligraphy. During Japanese language lessons, they learned basic greetings, counting, and how to write in the hiragana and katakana writing systems.
The summer school also featured a variety of physical activities, including daily morning exercises and outdoor games. Thanks to the support of the university's departments and services, the children enjoyed rock climbing at the KPIskala climbing wall, played tennis, explored the rope park organized by the Globus, Tourist Club of Igor Sikorsky Polytechnic Institute, and enjoyed delicious lunches provided by the Students' Catering Centre.
