In early summer, Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute hosted the Forum of Mechanical Engineers, dedicated to the 125th anniversary of the university and the Educational and Research Mechanical Engineering Institute. The purpose of the forum is to bring together leading scientists, engineers and industry representatives to share experiences, discuss the latest achievements in the fields of advanced engineering and technology, as well as education in the engineering field.

The forum included three international scientific and technical conferences: XXIII ISTC "Advanced Engineering, Technology and Engineering Education"; XXVII ISTC "Hydroaeromechanics in Engineering Practice" and XIII ISTC "Theoretical and Practical Problems in Material Processing by Pressure".

Mykola Bobyr, the scientific director of the Institute of MMI, co-chairman of the International Program Committee of the forum, told the correspondent of "Kyiv Polytechnic" about why this form of scientific meeting of specialists in the field of mechanics was chosen: "Until recently, the main directions of mechanical engineering developme nt were manufacturing, operation, technology, and design. And it was based on two pillars - mathematics and mechanics. Today, the machine-building complex also includes mechatronics, robotics, biomechanics, artificial intelligence... And in order to consider the development of all areas of the machine-building industry at one scientific meeting, we decided to combine three conferences in one forum."

The meeting of mechanical engineers was attended by scientists, engineers, students, industry representatives, and other stakeholders from different countries. Participants presented their research, projects, and practical solutions in their respective fields. The forum was held in a mixed mode. The plenary session was attended offline by 116 people. About fifty more participants joined remotely via zoom.

Of course, there were also plenary and breakout sessions. The forum's program also included speeches by invited well-known experts in the fields of mechanics and mechanical engineering - representatives of Antonov, Ukrainian Research Institute of Aviation Technology, Ivchenko-Progress, Kharkiv Morozov Machine Building Design Bureau, Turboatom, Yuzhnoye Design Bureau, Progresstech-Ukraine, and the E.O. Paton Institute of Electric Welding of the National Academy of Sciences. E.O. Paton Institute of Electric Welding of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Y.S. Pidstryhach Institute of Applied Problems of Mechanics and Mathematics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, G.S. Pysarenko Institute of Strength Problems of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, V.M. Bakul Institute of Superhard Materials of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Bogomolets National Medical University, Kherson National Technical University, Oles Honchar Dnipro National University. Foreign experts from Serbia (University of Belgrade) and South Korea (Korea Photonics Institute of Technology (KOPTI)) were also invited.

After the official opening and opening remarks by the Rector of the Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, Academician Mykhailo Zgurovsky, the plenary sessions began, which, according to the plan, were held for two days in the meeting room of the Academic Council. The first speaker was Oleksiy Andreev, Chief Engineer of the State Enterprise "Antonov", who presented a report "Implementation of the State Target Program for the Development of the Aviation Industry of Ukraine at the State Enterprise "Antonov".

It is worth noting that the problems of aerospace technology development took a significant place in the entire volume of reports at the plenary sessions. Many speakers also touched upon issues related to military equipment and the prospects for the post-war recovery of Ukraine's industrial complex.

Given the limited space available, we will only mention the names of the conference sections.

So, at the first conference, the participants worked in sections: "Modern Problems of Mechanics of Deformable Solids", "Advanced Engineering and Mechanical Engineering Technology", "Aviation and Rocket and Space Engineering", "Problems of Higher Engineering Education".

The second one is Technical Hydromechanics, Hydropneumatic Drive and Mechatronics Systems, Hydraulic and Pneumatic Machines, Hydraulic Transmissions, and Logistics Systems Engineering.

And the third one is "Theoretical and Practical Problems of Plastic Forming of Mechanical Engineering Structures" and "Increasing the Service Life and Operational Reliability of Mechanical Engineering Products by Technological Methods".

The organizers of the scientific meeting noted that the forum featured a large number of professional discussions, analysis and exchange of experience. Participants had the opportunity to learn about the latest research, innovative developments and advanced technologies in various fields of aviation, mechanics, engineering and mechanical engineering. There were also a number of discussions on joint research and draft scientific and technical agreements between scientists from different organizations, and new contacts and connections were established between conference participants. Therefore, the Forum of Mechanical Engineers at Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute was an important event that brought together specialists and researchers, scientists in mechanics, mechanical engineering and aviation and contributed to the expansion of knowledge, exchange of experience and development of new ideas.

It is quite obvious that the forum had a tangible practical orientation, which is very important for the further development of the national economy. So, when asked by a KP correspondent to summarize the first results of the forum, Mykola Bobyr said that most of the speakers were representatives of the industrial sector and they voiced a number of pressing issues with the hope that scientists would take them into account and plan their research in these areas.
