Tragic death of Maksym Shapoval has affected the whole Ukraine. But his name became known to his compatriots only upon his death on the 27th of June this year. It couldn’t be the other way – he was absolutely no fan of public life. The reasons were his occupation: Colonel Shapoval was one of the best officers of our country, the head of the SF department of the Intelligence Head office of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
He took part in the most complicated tasks on the battlefield, which were given to soldiers of SF. He was one of the “cyborgs” defending Donetsk airport. He and his department have eradicated the head of the special unit “Vympel” of FSS RF, which was organizing terroristic acts on Ukrainian territory, successful performance of a whole bunch of military tasks. President Petro Poroshenko has awarded Maksym Shapoval with Brigadier General title postmortem.
The path of Maksym Shapoval has started in NTUU “Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute”, in Military Institute of communication and digital affairs, which he has finished in 2000. Then his service was closely connected with the Main intelligence department of the Ministry of Defense, where he was sent upon graduation.
Maksym Shapoval had a family: wife and 2 children – son and daughter…
The staff of Kyiv Polytechnic’ workers express deep condolences to family of the late hero. His name will be added to the memorial list of students, graduates and workers of NTUU “Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute”, who have given their life for freedom and independence of Ukraine.
