Traditionally, towards the end of the academic year, the 24th International Scientific and Technical Conference “Instrument Engineering: Status and Prospects” was held at the Instrument Engineering Faculty of Igor Sikorsky KPI.

📰
For many years, the conference was opened by a plenary session, which took place in the famous premises of the Great Physics Auditorium or the Academic Council Hall of the main building of KPI. Due to the need to comply with safety requirements in the recent period, both the general plenary session and subsequent sessions of individual sections are held in a remote format via videoconferencing.

Nevertheless, 281 representatives from 33 industrial enterprises, academic, educational, and industry research institutions from 14 cities in Ukraine, Poland, Bulgaria, and the United States participated in the conference. The participants' abstracts are published in a collection, which this year contains 143 papers based on the results of scientific and practical research on topical issues in instrument engineering.

The large number of conference sections, which is significantly greater than the number of departments in the faculty, testifies to the wide variety of thematic areas in instrument engineering.

Technologies in navigation and control systems for aircraft and other moving objects, sensors for them, processing of signals and various types of information, optoelectronic systems, mathematical modeling, automation of instrument development and production processes, design of automated instruments, including robots, issues of analytical and environmental instrument engineering, techniques and technologies in medicine, diagnostics of the condition of technical objects, devices for determining the physical parameters of liquids and gases for the purpose of effective energy conservation, metrological aspects of mass measurement, automation in conducting experiments, modern information technologies for accurate measurements, and much more—these issues are relevant to both the defense and civil spheres.
At the same time, the faculty hosted a youth event – the All-Ukrainian Scientific and Practical Conference “A Look into the Future of Instrument Engineering” on a similar topic, which was attended mainly by students and graduate students. This is also a tradition of the PBF: despite being younger than the “adult” conference, this conference has nevertheless become a regular event and was held for the eighteenth time.

At both forums, participants shared scientific achievements with colleagues and discussed the problems of modern instrument engineering, precision technologies, and the intellectualization of production. The speakers received friendly and constructive advice, and for the young people, the presentations were an experience of communicating with an audience.

Tetyana Klochko, chair of the organizing committee of the conference “Instrument Engineering: Status and Prospects,” summed up: "The conference has become broader in terms of the geography of participants. The number of texts has increased significantly compared to previous years, and the quality has improved. It was held online, but almost all of the abstracts were accompanied by presentations and reports. There were many participants and lively communication. There were representatives from Kyiv, Kharkiv, Sumy, Ternopil, Mariupol, Lviv, and other cities in Ukraine, as well as other countries. There is interest. The collection is almost 500 pages long, the largest in the history of the conference."

So let's hope that next year, scientists will gather again to share new experiences, developments, and ideas. They will gather in peaceful and safe conditions.
