Carlo Colonnella, Director of the Italian Institute of Culture in Kyiv at the Embassy of Italy in Ukraine, and Paolo Coya, designer and architect, organizer of the Italian Design Day, told about the plans for the event during their visit to our university.
This year's event is special because it is dedicated to the theme “Design for Reconstruction: Inclusiveness and Innovation”, which is also relevant for our university, as we strive to create a space where everyone will feel comfortable.
“We chose Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute for such an important event because your university is very prestigious and extremely beautiful - it's like being in an ancient castle. Moreover, our traditional Italian Design Day is not only about design and architecture, but also about engineering, about everything that can be built to rebuild Ukraine after the victory, so the event will be very useful for your specialists,” said Carlo Colonnella, Director of the Italian Institute of Culture in Kyiv at the Embassy of Italy in Ukraine.
This large-scale event is very important in the context of continuing and expanding cooperation in the field of culture between our university and Italy. For example, in 2022, a sculpture called “DNA of Creativity” by Paolo Coya was installed on the Square of Knowledge.
