Traditionally, during the school holidays, Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute hosted the Engineering Week "KPISchool", organized by the Career Guidance Department - Career Development Center of the DNVR. From March 25 to 29, various faculties and educational and research institutes held interesting and useful classes aimed at schoolchildren. Just like during the winter holidays, the week was held simultaneously in person and online.
There were lectures from leading experts, master classes, presentations from various faculties/institutes, thematic excursions from the Guide Club - all this so that schoolchildren could learn about various areas of study at the university, feel its atmosphere For example, on the first day of the Engineering Week, the Educational and Research Institute of Energy Saving and Energy Management hosted introductions to the capabilities of the department and discussions, as well as a master class on the general topic "Energy Workshop: from Production to Consumption". The events of the School of Engineering were also held at the FEA, HTF, ISZZI, FBMI, and the Institute of ITS. The chemical experiments demonstrated by students of the School of Chemical Engineering were of particular interest, while cybersecurity and telecommunications topics remain popular among students, as well as the FBMI's "Living Cells: Biosystems in Biomedical Engineering".
With the onset of warm days, the Guide Club continued its activities. So, during the Engineering Week, students conducted excursions around the university campus for schoolchildren, where they had the opportunity to get acquainted with the history of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute and student life.
"As in the previous Engineering School, we are pleased to observe how today's students show great interest in engineering," says Natalia Pozharska, Head of the Career Guidance Department - Career Development Center of the State Research Institute of Engineering, "and we have only positive feedback from the students. This time, more than 120 students registered for the classes. Among them were not only schoolchildren and students of lyceums and colleges, but also their parents and teachers. In addition to Kyiv schools, students from other regions of Ukraine also registered. After the Procedure for admission to higher education for 2024 came into force, we expect an increase in the number of requests for acquaintance with Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute. And, of course, we are preparing for this and will provide all those who need it with the necessary information and assistance."
