On June 14, 2023, the Department of Descriptive Geometry, Engineering and Computer Graphics of the Faculty of Physics and Mathematics of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, based on the Scientific School of Applied Geometry, hosted the XII International Scientific and Practical Conference "Applied Geometry, Engineering Graphics and Intellectual Property Objects" dedicated to the 125th anniversary of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute.
Representatives of scientific schools of Ukraine, teachers, graduate students and students have been gathering for this conference since May 2012. The initiators and ideological inspirers of the conference were Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Volodymyr Vanin, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Volodymyr Yurchuk, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Gennadiy Virchenko. The conference is co-organized by the National Academy of Sciences of Higher Education of Ukraine and the Ukrainian Association for Applied Geometry. The program committee of the XII Conference included Ukrainian scientists and their foreign colleagues from universities of the Federal Republic of Germany, Malta, and Georgia.
The purpose of the conference is to exchange information on new scientific results, establish and expand ties between scientists working in the field of applied geometry; expand cooperation between domestic and foreign educational institutions; involve students in scientific work, develop and realize their creative potential. This year's conference was attended by 58 scientists, teachers, graduate students and undergraduates, and the range of topics discussed was unexpectedly diverse.
Thirty-two scientific articles were submitted for publication in the conference proceedings. The conference was attended by 12 participants representing the National University of Civil Defense of Ukraine (Kharkiv, Ukraine), Bohdan Khmelnytsky Melitopol State Pedagogical University (Zaporizhzhia, Ukraine), National University of Biology and Medicine (Zaporizhzhia, Ukraine). Zaporizhzhia, Ukraine), National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine (Kyiv, Ukraine), Research Institute of Physics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (Kyiv, Ukraine), The University of Georgia (Tbilisi, Georgia), University of Malta (Msida, Malta) and, of course, the National Technical University of Ukraine "Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute".
The conference was opened by Volodymyr Vanin, Dean of the Faculty of Physics and Mathematics, and Hennadii Virchenko, Head of the Department of Descriptive Geometry, Engineering and Computer Graphics, who welcomed the participants and noted the great role of science and education in achieving the Victory, security, and further restoration of the state.
The conference participants discussed new methods of modeling technical objects and extending the geometric representation to location-temporal models with large databases; developing an integrated comprehensive methodology for geometric modeling that allows creating more versatile models of various technical objects and processes, in particular in the design of working bodies of agricultural machinery, improving the mathematical and software of computer-aided design systems to reproduce complex dynamic systems, etc. The report on the search for relevant technical solutions was very interesting and useful, namely a report proposing a new principle of operation, model, and design of a hydraulic machine for pumping contaminated water.
A report by a student of the ER IAT on creative thinking, a combination of two approaches in the design process - purely technical and focused on the ergonomic needs of users - aroused the interest of the audience and a lively discussion. The topic of improving the methodology of the educational process was not left without attention. Thus, the topic of using artificial intelligence in the educational process in mixed and distance learning was discussed.
Undoubtedly, the conference gave a strong impetus to further research and identification of relevant new tasks. We are sincerely grateful to all its participants and wish them new achievements!
