Back in 2005, a young novice of the FRE, a gold medalist of the Kyiv-Mohyla College, the winner of the third stage of the All-Ukrainian School Mathematical Olympiad, Stepan Piltiay, lit a fire in the symbolic bowl of knowledge on the Freshman Day. And that light, like a beacon, led the young man through years of study and development. Today he is a Doctor of Philosophy (Candidate), Associate Professor of Department of Radio Engineering of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, the competition winner “Young Scientist of the Year” in the nomination “Young Methodologist of the Year in physical sciences”.
The reason for his recognition became the publication of his original textbook “Electrodynamics and propagation of radio waves: workshop.” “It is compiled of," says the scientist, "theoretical problems and their results I have published in international journals. Most of all, these are solutions of modern significant electrodynamic problems published in foreign and Ukrainian professional publications: Journal of Electromagnetic Waves and Applications (UK), International Journal of Numerical Modeling: Electronic Networks, Devices and Fields (UK), Journal of Microwaves, Optoelectronics and Electromagnetic Applications (Brazil), Advanced Electromagnetics (France), Journal of Nano- and Electronic Physics (Ukraine), Radioelectronics and Communications Systems (USA), Telecommunications and Radio Engineering (USA), Visnyk NTUU KPI Seriia - Radiotekhnika Radioaparatobuduvannia (Ukraine), indexed in the international scientific publication databases Scopus and Web of Science."
Today we can be happy for the young scientist and tell how a talented student became a successful modern researcher. Professor Fedor Dubrovka, Scientific Director of the Department of Radio Engineering, recalls, "At the Faculty Stepan Piltyai proved to be an active participant and winner of international conferences and all-Ukrainian student competitions. In 2008 he won first place in the competition in the discipline "Electrodynamics and propagation of radio waves" at the Olympiad in Radio Engineering. In 2009, he won first place in the second round of the All-Ukrainian Student Olympiad in "Digital Devices and Microprocessors". In 2008 and 2009, he participated in the scientific and technical conferences of students, graduate students, and young scientists RTF "Radioelectronics in the XXI century". Stepan got twice awarded with the first-degree diploma for the best scientific report at this conference. For achievements in education and public activities in 2007, he received a scholarship from the Kyiv Mayor, in 2008 - Rector of NTUU "KPI", in 2010 - President of Ukraine. He graduated from the University with honors."
The scientific research that Stepan Piltyay started as a student brought results. He invented and patented the latest antenna systems for radio monitoring, developed high-efficiency microwave polarization processing devices for satellite information systems The young scientist also participated in creating antenna systems to order in Ukraine, Britain, Azerbaijan, and the People's Republic of China. "To achieve success only talent and hard work are not enough," says his supervisor Fedir Dubrovka. "the daily thoughtful creative work of supervisors is also essential. I think it is this work that should spare no effort or time."
The results of the young researcher's work were published at the International Conference on Cooperation and Integration of Industry, Education, Research, and Applications (Changchun, China). And the developments are presented at the international exhibition "Weapons and Security 2019" and the international forum "Innovation Market" (2019, Kyiv). He received a TOEFL certificate for language proficiency level in English, has 2 patents, published 46 articles, 3 monographs, 2 textbooks.
Like his mentor, Stepan Piltyai took care of the young change. He is a member of the organizing committee and jury of the first stage of the All-Ukrainian Student Olympiad in Radio Engineering. He has also prepared four winners of the second stage and nine winners of the first stage of the All-Ukrainian Student Olympiad in Radio Engineering. In 2019, he got commendations for preparing the Faculty of Radio Engineering team for the All-Ukrainian Student Olympiad in Radio Engineering.
Consequently, natural abilities, persistent and purposeful work, and skillful scientific mentoring resulted in the successes and achievements of the young scientist. We congratulate Stepan on his recognition and wish him good luck!
