For effective improvement of technological equipment, mathematical modelling of the devices is performed, using reliable data on the physiochemical properties of liquids and gases. Therefore, it is necessary to find accurate and cheap methods for determining these properties, in particular - the viscosity of Newtonian fluids. In the chemical, oil refining, food, heat, construction and other industries, viscometers are used to measure the viscosity of liquid environments.
Standard capillary viscometers are characterized by quite complex structures and require a lot of time to measure viscosity. Therefore, magister student Vadym Koval, a member of the student research group of the Department of Machines and Apparatus of Chemical and Oil Refinery Productions IHF, was recommended to create a viscometer of simpler design. According to the results of research conducted under the guidance of Associate Professor I.A. Andreev, he proposed a device of truly simplified design with the facilitation of measurements.
Vadym became interested in scientific work from the first years of study. He managed to achieve significant success under the leadership of the head of the department prof. Y.M.Korniyenko. One of the peculiarities of Yaroslav Mykytovych's work is the involvement of higher education students in the implementation of creative tasks on the subject of special courses that he teaches. Based on the results of the patent review, students need to determine the directions of development of a technological process, propose improvements to the apparatus in which this process is carried out, and perform a mathematical justification of the proposed improvement.
The results of V. Koval's scientific work were published at 11 international and all-Ukrainian scientific-practical conferences and in three patents of Ukraine for a utility model. He was awarded a scholarship of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for successful study and scientific achievements of the master.
In addition to working at the department, Vadym is engaged in aircraft modelling and design activities. In his opinion, the study of existing design documentation and the process of solving engineering problems improve and discipline thinking. And the young man loves to travel, read, communicate with friends.
Vadym Koval is sure that studying at Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute allows you to find your vocation, to understand what you want to do in the future. Thanks to IHF, namely the department of MAHNV, he achieves his goal - to become a qualified specialist in the field of chemical engineering.
