A modern shooting gallery was opened at the Center for Physical Education and Sports Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute on November, 28.
Shooting gallery is repaired and equipped by the military department of the university. Students, who are trained in it as part of the reserve officers training program, will master their skills there. They will use serious weapons: AK-74 guns, Makarov pistols, Margolin pistols and small-caliber rifles. Therefore, two shooting distances are equipped – 25 and 50 meters. Four people will be able to go out at the fire border at the same time. Therefore, the fire training of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute students will not only include theory, but will also comprise appropriate skills in practice. And, according to the head of the department, Colonel Olexiy Tsarenok, the practice of dealing with tactical shooting weapons will be held from the next semester.
“It is difficult to overestimate the significance of the work currently being conducted by the military department. After all, the preparation of reserve officers without special theoretical training and without practical training is simply impossible. Therefore, today we are opening another department of the department – a shooting gallery for the practical training and acquisition of small arms. Without such skills, one cannot imagine a reserve officer” said Michael Zgurovskyi, the academician of the NAS of Ukraine, rector of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute. – We sincerely thank all the teachers and staff of the department and we promise to help them, as we can, together with the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, with whom we have a full understanding on these issues”.
The opening ceremony was completed with a shooting from Makarov gun, which was undertaken by the heads of the university structural units who came to the opening.
