On September 3, 2018, the rector of the Poznań University of Technology Professor Thomas Lodygowski presented the medal “For Services to Poznań Technological University” to the rector of the National Technical University of Ukraine “Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute”, academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Michael Zgurovskyi.
Professor Michael Zgurovskyi received this award during a scientific conference “Our century: Science for Peace”, in which he made a presentation on “The overall picture of the world economy and society”.
In 2018 Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute celebrates its 120th anniversary. Its history is closely linked to the development of world science. Today it is one of the most popular Ukrainian universities. Its scientific and educational achievements are recognized throughout the world. Among its graduates there are many prominent scholars, including V.Sventoslavskyi, A. Lulko, B. Paton and others.
In recent years, cooperation between Kyiv Polytechnic and Poznań University of Technology has been developing steadily. One of the main initiators of this is Michael Zgurovsky. Recently, several agreements were signed on the organization of joint research and the launch of dual diploma programs. In the last semester, a group of students from Ukraine studied at Poznań University of Technology, and students from Poznan traveled to Kyiv for a course organized by Boeing. Employees of both universities work closely together. One of the important joint projects implemented by the Poznań University of Technology and the Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute is the creation of the PolyITAN 3 nanosatellite.
