"I am convinced that thanks to the opening of the IBM Information Security Center in the field of information security, students of Physical and Technical faculty and other departments who study information security can get additional knowledge, experience and skills," - said Alexei Novikov after the signing the protocol of intention and wished success in cooperation between the university and the company.
However, the signing ceremony was preceded by purely informational activities. And they began with a lecture by the coordinator of the university programs of IBM Ukraine Alexander Danko "Collaboration of Opportunities through Leadership and Innovation. IBM's History of Innovation” who spoke about the history of the company, prominent personalities that worked and are working for it (the company gave the world 5 Nobel laureates), its products, priorities, capabilities, scientific programs (IBM has a developed scientific infrastructure, including 12 research laboratories in different countries of the world) and its program of cooperation with universities, etc. Among other things, he informed the students about the opportunities for internships at Kyiv office of IBM and, in case of winning the competition, opportunity to take a 3-6 month internship at one of the research centers of the company in Zurich, Dubai, Haifa or Nairobi. This year, one of such trainees in Zurich was a six-year student of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, Institute of Applied Systems Analysis Roman Shaptala, who told the audience what is necessary to get on such an internship and how interesting and useful it is.
Another lecture within the framework of the program was a lecture by the leading specialist of the IBM Security Department of IBM Ukraine Andriy Kuzmenko "Before and After the attack. What to do if you have been chosen the next target ». As it can be understood from the name and position of the speaker, it was devoted to issues of cybersecurity, and Andriy Kuzmenko dwelt on those features that distinguish IBM's approaches to solving these problems from other well-known companies.
A recent graduate student of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, and now a staff member of IBM Ukraine, Alina Kroshkina, also spoke with the polytechnics. The title of her report also corresponded to the topic of the meeting - "IBM Security: Intelligence, Integrity, Expertise".
Well, of course, it was useful for the students who took part in the "IBM Day" events was the presentation of the senior teacher of the information security department of Physical and Technical department Alexey Baranovsky (who actually acted as a moderator of events) "Acquiring competencies with IBM. Using IBM Academic Initiative (OTN) Programs in the Learning Process. "
It is worth noting that the lectures within the program of the information day were not too academic. Speakers prepared them in the form of a live dialogue with the students, chatted with the audience and answered the questions of the listeners. Moreover, those who asked the most interesting questions were rewarded with small prizes - T-shirts and cups with the logo of the company.
