On the occasion of the Day of Goodwill and Freedom that celebrates in Ukraine on November 21 and in honor of the beginning of two revolutions: The Orange Revolution (2004) and the Revolution of Goodwill (2013), the teachers, employees and students of the National Technical University of Ukraine «Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute» honored the memory of the heroes of Maidan and ATO and remembered the tragic events that have happened four years ago.
The participants of the ceremony laid flowers at the monument to the Heroes of the Nebesna Sotnya near the temple of St. Nicholas and remembers the Kiev polytechniciens, who fought for freedom of the Homeland. This is the heroes of Ukraine: the student of the correspondence department of the Faculty of Sociology and Law— Yuriy Popravka, the student of the correspondence department of the Faculty of Computer Science and Computer Science —Sergey Bondarev and the graduate of the Military Institute— Maxim Shapoval; the research scientist of the department of electronics— Andrew Yeremenko, the student of the Mechanical Engineering Institute— Yuriy Artyuh, the student of the welding faculty— Vadim Zherebilo, the graduate of the Mechanical Engineering Institute— Volodymyr Kochetkov-Sukach, the student of the Faculty of Sociology and Law— Vladislav Dyusov, the student of the Faculty of Biotechnology and Biotechnology— Alexander Kondratyuk, the employee of the economic department Mikhail Fedorenko.
The ceremony was attended by the first vice-rector of the NTUU «KPI», academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine— U.I.Yakymenko and the vice-rector of educational work P.O.Kirichok, the head of the public organization "Veteran KPI" U.V.Nesterenko, the deputy of the trade union committee of V. O.Korsakov and others.
The participants of the ceremony also laid flowers ,on the memorial boards in the university, to the graduate of the Faculty of Informatics and Computer Science, hero of Ukraine —Sergei Bondarev, in building No. 18 and to the student of the Faculty of Sociology and Law of Hero of Ukraine Yuriy Popravka in the building No. 19.
The dean of the ICF prof. Y. M. Panov noted during the ceremony: «Current events in the East of Ukraine will have been hurting Ukrainians for a long time.
We grieve for the perished, sympathize with the wounded, we will have been remembering the feat of heroes-polytechniciens. And for the present—day students, we have great hopes, because each next generation outstrips its predecessors, otherwise there will not be any progress. »
In his speech, the Dean of the Institute of Philosophy, prof. O.A.Pavlov called November 21 the day of the beginning of a difficult path «sprinkled with blood» - a path to the future, where we probably find a lot of difficulties. The students laid their lives for the happiness of Ukraine, for its future. When the time comes, we will be proud that we are developing our country and are calling ourselves Ukrainians.
In conclusion, U.I.Yakimenko wished young people to defend Ukraine with their intelligence, not weapons.
