In April, 28 there was an official opening of Star Alley of Igor Sikorsky at historical building №1.
The Alley was laid in 2014 and recently the installation of the last its memorial signs has been finished. Now it has eighty pink granite stars each of which is devoted to a renowned fellow worker and graduate of Kyiv polytechnics. The people whose names are set in stone glorified their Alma Mater but Ukraine as well in different fields of human activity.
The Alley has been built thanks to sponsorship of the president of the Fund of scientific and development of Ukraine named after V. S. Mykhalevych Liudmyla Rusalina and donation by fellow workers of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv polytechnic institute. Other sponsors of the university such as people’s deputy of Ukraine Dmytro Andriievsky, the President of Small Academy of Science of Ukraine, correspondent member of Ukrainian NAS Stanislav Dovgyi, representative of President Fund of Leonid Kuchma “Ukraine” Pavlo Haidutskyi and others have been invited to the opening ceremony. Rector of National technical university of Ukraine “Igor Sikorsky Kyiv polytechnic institute”, Mykhailo Zgurovsky expressed gratitude to the audience.
«It is great honor to support good deals of Ukrainian patrons Mykola Tereshchenko, Lazar Brodskyi who laid down Kyiv polytechnics” – the president of the Fund of scientific and technical development of Ukraine named after V. S. Mykhalevych Liudmyla Rusalina after opening ceremony.
Thus, from now on each polytechnics member and visitor, while heading for Main building of the university, will be passing by starts with the names of glorified predecessors of present students, teaching staff and fellow workers of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv polytechnic institute.
After the ceremony, participants put flowers to memorial board with photos of polytechnic members who put their lives for freedom and independence of our country during the Revolution of Dignity and in fight in the East of Ukraine.
