To the 30th anniversary of the Chornobyl accident

On April 26, 2016, it is 30 years since the day of the terrible global catastrophe – the accident at the Chornobyl nuclear power plant. Its consequences are felt all over the world, and only the heroic efforts of a large number of people allowed to prevent an even greater disaster.

In the 30 years since, there has been made a lot: Chornobyl plant is stopped and it is taken out of exploitation, there are erected facilities for processing and storage of nuclear waste, new confinement that insulates the fourth unit of the environment for the next 100 years is actively being constructed. During this period we also got a unique experience in overcoming the consequences of technological disasters, the organization of international cooperation and made a number of discoveries. Chornobyl zone has become a special object that, despite all the danger, can be used effectively.
On 21-23 April NTUU "KPI" holds the International Forum "The lessons of ChOrnobyl - for nuclear security in the world", which will be attended by academics, politicians and public figures.

The Forum will provide for a momentum for the discussion of a new stage of international cooperation aimed at joint implementation of measures for the final transformation of the "Shelter" into an ecologically safe system.
