On March 30 NTUU "KPI" held an open Mathematics Olympiad, which is annually conducted by the staff of the Department of Mathematical Analysis and Probability Theory and is the first stage of all-Ukrainian student olympiad in mathematics for students of higher educational institutions.
The olympias was attended by nearly 300 students of different years of 17 departments and institutes of NTUU "KPI". The most numerous teams were representing FICS, ISCIS, IPT, IASA and FMM.
The olympiad was held in two categories - for students of first and senior years.
Among first-year students the best result was shown by Kostiantyn Lysenko (FICS, gr. IP-51), the second were students of IASA Oleksii Saynoh (gr. KA-51) and Ada Melentieva (gr. KA-55), the third place was shared by Illia Volkov (FICS , gr. IP-51), Rostislav Yadelskyi (FICS, gr. IP-51), Olexandr Bratus (IASA, gr. KA-51) and Arsenii Shulikov (IASA, gr. KA-53).
Among the senior students the first place was taken by Serhii Muchychka (IPT, gr. FI-52m), the second result was shown by students of IASA Kateryna Matviiiv (gr. KA-31) and Dmytro Kharchenko (gr. KA-45), and third place was shared by Yelysei Bondarenko and Volodymyr Myhailovskyi (both are students of IASA, gr. KA-21).
On April 13th there was the ceremony of awarding the winners of the olympiad. Awards were handed by the first Vice-Rector of NTUU "KPI" Y. Yakymenko. He congratulated the winners and wished them more success and rise at subsequent events and scientific work.
In addition, FICS student Konstiantyn Lysenko and IPT student Serhii Muchychka received Professor Buldyhin Prize for creative achievements and the best performance at the olympiad with awarding honorary diplomas and medals. Winners were warmly congratulated by N. Pidsuha, V. Buldyhin’s wife.
