The first in Ukraine exclusive laboratory of designing of modern analog charts on January, 30 in the Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute was opened.

The equipment for it and software on a total sum of 600 thousands of hrn. gave to the university from the company TowerJazz (Israel) and Cadence Design Systems (USA). In the new laboratory students of the Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute will have the opportunity to master principles and technologies of designing of nanowires, that can be used in electronic devices and systems of the most various setting. Over that, possibilities that is got by the faculty of electronics of the Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute , will allow to bring  students to the collaboration with companies that work in industry, and join them to realize research and designer projects. And successful developments of Kyiv politechnics a company TowerJazz, that has enterprises in Israel, United States and Japan, plans to take to embodiment in the real intergrally micro and nanowires.

As an executive chief TowerJazz R.Ellvanher has reported, the students of all levels will be able to pass preparation on this equipment - from future bachelors and master's degrees to those, who prepares to securing of dissertation for the receipt of scientific degree of Doctor of Philosophy. Therefore future specialists on student lava will be able to participate in the complete loop of development of such charts process up to the production of the prepared product. Indeed, for this purpose it is yet needed to be prepared. And three teachers of faculty of electronics, that passed corresponding preparation and all testing on-line will engage in this. By the way, exactly in an opening of laboratory day they got the certificates of instructors on the hands of manager of regional university projects of company Cadence Design Systems A.Klots. And manager of department of the electronic engineering of FEL V.Tymofeev will get a certificate of accordance of laboratory to all requirements of company Cadence, that it puts before such educational structures.

On the meeting with guidance of university, that was preceded to the official opening ceremony, the representatives of companies-partners were discussing  that a collaboration with  university will provide a foundation for perfection of knowledge and skills for next generations of specialists, that will not yield to the qualification the foreign colleagues in industry of the analog electrical engineering. By the way, such certificated laboratories, that now in the Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute has, in Europe - not more than three. Therefore the chancellor of the Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute the academician of NAS of Ukraine M.Zgurovsky  thanked to the new partners for a substantial contribution to development of the system of preparation of specialists of modern level and development of educational base of university.

On the question, which tasks can be executed in a laboratory - especially educational or research, R.Ellvanger has answered: “It is a combination of both types. It is educational laboratory for students, where they will obtain certain skills and work on development of models. However in our plans is also an expansion of possibilities of laboratory for the very interested students and organization for them of passing of housemanship in our company in Israel. It will become the research constituent of laboratory”.

After the official opening of laboratory (a ribbon on it entrance was cut by R.Ellvanger, the director of regional sales Cadence Design Systems A.Segal and the first prorector of the Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute academician of NAS of UkraineY.Yakymenko) of R.Ellvanger read for the participants of this event a short lecture in which was told about the activity of the company and prospect of development of modern analog microcircuits of degree of integration, and also about possibilities, that is opened before young specialists that will be chosen for the professional activity work in this branch.

TowerJazz, Cadence, and Kyiv Polytechnic Institute (KPI) to Open First Analog Design Lab

The first-of-its-kind lab and corresponding program will provide unparalleled access to tools and expertise in IC design, and will enable to train the next generation of analog electrical engineering experts.

MIGDAL HAEMEK, Israel, Kyiv, UA, and San Jose, CA, January 23, 2020TowerJazz (NASDAQ/TASE: TSEM), the global specialty foundry leader, Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute (KPI), the national technical university of Ukraine, and Cadence Design Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: CDNS), today announced a collaboration to open a new analog circuit design lab in Ukraine. The first-of-its-kind lab and corresponding program was formed to provide designers and high-level engineering students with unparalleled access to tools and expertise in IC design.

The lab, at the prestigious KPI University, is equipped with advanced hardware and software design tools, providing the most up-to-date setting for analog circuit designers. The collaboration between the three parties sets the grounds for the next generation of analog electrical engineering experts to perfect their skills. In addition, students gain exclusive direct access to TowerJazz’s analog process as reflected in the company’s PDK, allowing hands-on practical experience with silicon manufacturing. TowerJazz plans to sponsor and allow select students to run post-silicon projects, exposing them to a full-circle experience of the design-to-product process.

“We are very excited to announce the availability of this exclusive program to our students. Our collaboration with TowerJazz and Cadence allows us to enhance our academic portfolio in analog design techniques.” said Mykhaylo Zgurovsky, rector of the National Technical University of Ukraine ‘Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute’. “We believe this activity will cultivate a profound VLSI community in Ukraine. The hardware and software of this lab will enable our higher degree students and teachers to obtain Cadence certificates in the modern analog design system.”

This initiative opens up new possibilities for all levels of trainings from B.A.s, M.A.s, and up to Ph.Ds, at KPI’s Faculty of Electronics. By providing targeted training and allowing realization of academic studies  projects, this program involves Igor Sikorsky KPI students in joint research projects with industry players.

“We are very excited to announce our distinctive collaboration with KPI and Cadence and to be setting new grounds for design expertise. Enabling access to our state-of-the-art design enablement kits, along with Cadence leading software tools and the KPI team of experts, we can effectively train a new generation of analog designers,” said Ori Galzur, vice president of VLSI Design Center and Design Enablement, TowerJazz. “By becoming familiar with TowerJazz’s analog PDK and process, program graduates can potentially have a gateway to joining our dedicated and experienced worldwide design enablement team.”
