In the Kiev Polytechnic successfully performs research within the eight integrated research programs. Each of them received significant scientific and technical results, an overview of which is given below.

Sustainable development

The main objective of this programme is the analysis of processes of sustainable development as the world in General and to the individual country or region in the context of safety and quality of life. World data center for Geoinformatics and sustainable development (World Data Center for Geoinformatics and Sustainable Development – WDC) International Council for science, which operates in the structure of NTUU "KPI" since 2006, studied in the areas of assessing the effectiveness of public policy and public administration from the standpoint of the concept of sustainable development of society.

The Center staff under the leadership of academician M.Z .Zgurovsky built models of assessment of ecological and socio-economic systems of different levels (enterprises, businesses, industries, regions, countries) from the standpoint of the concept of sustainable development, the criteria and approaches to the selection of relevant groups of indices and indicators, justified the group's global and regional threats that influence the process of sustainable development of countries and regions of Ukraine, developed approaches for analysis of their impact on the processes of sustainable development. Developed a General approach for solving the problem of harmonization of data of different nature in interdisciplinary studies. Developed techniques for proper data conversion taking into account peculiarities of their measurement (individual methods of linear and nonlinear normalization of the data, two the combination of data measured in nominal scales) and methods of quantitative evaluation of data consistency. Was determined the ranking of countries according to the index of sustainable development, where Ukraine ranks 71st place.

Energy and energy saving

The activity of structural subdivisions of the University in the framework of the integrated programme "Energy and conservation" aimed at achieving high energy efficiency with optimal use of all energy resources and minimal negative impact on the environment.

Scientists IEE together with the specialists of the Institute of electrodynamics of NAS of Ukraine resolves an important scientific and technical problem – the establishment of principles of construction and ensure the necessary level of metrological reliability of measurement of electrical power and automated accounting systems of electricity (ASA) with the control of the quality indicators under conditions of multiple exceedances of uninformative parameters above informative and actions of several groups of diverse factors of influence in a wide dynamic range. The total economic effect from the introduction of the ASA with quality SE NPC "Ukrenergo" for 2005-2012 is more than 1 billion UAH. As part of the creative team of artists that work with State prize of Ukraine in science and technology our scientists noted A.V. Pracownika (posthumously).P.Kalnica.

Our young scholars also gets results that are worthy of public celebration. In 2014, the prize of the President of Ukraine for young scientists highlighted the work of M. A. Shcherba and T. Y. Antonets on the theme "creating a flame resistant electric cables of different voltage classes". Based on the results of this work in the period 2011-2013, PJSC "Energoprom" is made of 21.6 thousand km of domestic import-substituting poseamation products, and the economic effect from implementation results amounted to $ 37.8 million.

The award of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine for the participation in the development and implementation of innovative technologies in the year 2014 awarded the Dean TEP Prof. E.M.Pismenny and senior research scientist TEP E. M. O. Terakhu for the work "Development of technology and equipment for incomplete cross fin plancoulaine pipes by means of resistance welding and creation on their basis of a wide range of energy-saving heat-exchanging devices."

Based on fundamental studies of heat transfer and aerodynamics developed heat transfer surfaces scientists TEP developed new highly efficient heat exchange surfaces – flat-oval tubes with incomplete fins that have no analogues in the world and are characterized by high adaptability, high intensity, convective heat transfer, almost perfect thermal contact between fins and tube and low aerodynamic resistance. Together with DCTB Institute of electric them. E .Paton NAS of Ukraine developed the technology of manufacturing such pipes by welding that does not require sophisticated equipment, special supplies, and a considerable amount of energy.

One of the important results 2014 was the preparation and adoption of a decision to-wholeness implementation jointly with the company "Technology of nature" of the project for construction of thermal generating stations renewable energy sources (wood graft) on the territory of our University to provide auxiliary heating of the academic buildings and dormitories of the University. Using the latest technology to clean exhaust gases and equipment will be complied with European requirements according to emissions of pollutants into the atmosphere.

The development of the information society

The activities of University employees in the framework of the comprehensive programme "Development of the information society" aims at the development and implementation of projects in the field of information and communication technology to solve socio-economic problems on the basis of  Informatization of all spheres of life, including the development of information and telecommunication infrastructure of the University.

In 2014, implemented a large-scale joint project of NAS and MES of Ukraine in relation to the construction of the national grid infrastructure and widespread adoption of grid technologies in all spheres of socio-economic activities of society. To the national grid-a network of powerful supercomputing centers NTUU "KPI" and KNU. Shevchenko, which are connected by data channels of 10 Gbps each other, and supercomputers NAS other regions of Ukraine, combined into a single grid system-clusters.

The actual steel was performed under the direction of Professor A. M. Novikova development with PTI cyber security: the system of active protection of the banking systems and software; automatic detection, evaluation, and analysis of software vulnerabilities; analysis and synthesis software for lawful interception; software for detecting information operations in electronic media; software for detecting information operations in social networks. In the direction of technical protection of information STC "THESIS" of the executed contract in the amount of 2.0 million (the head of M. I. Prokofiev).

New materials and technologies

Research within the program "New materials and technologies" is aimed at the development and creation of new substances, materials, devices and systems of new generation with characteristics that comply with the global standards and the latest technologies in various fields of science and technology and the modernization of industrial production of Ukraine to sustainable development.

Specialists IFF under the guidance of Prof. cor. NASU P. I. Loboda developed a new generation of reinforced superhard high-strength composite materials that have properties superior to all known classes of tool materials enabling it to produce a new generation of armor sixth highest protection class, parts of gas turbine engines, the highest among all known materials working temperature of 1500-1600 in and seals With hydraulic high pressure (300 ATM. and more).

Professor A. A. Fokin and K. D. associate Professor of Butovo (HTF), together with colleagues from Germany, USA and Belgium have synthesized and investigated a new hydrocarbon hybrid that clearly showed semiconducting properties. First time monomolecular hydrocarbon diode with a geometric size of about 1 nm. Molecules of this new material combine (bind carbon bridge) diamond-like hydrocarbon – damanta and fullerene. This discovery should give an opportunity to significantly (by more than an order of magnitude) reduce the size of the technical devices with diodes of a new type. The results of this outstanding achievement published in a leading scientific journal "Nature Comm.".

Clean water

The activities of scientists of the University on the program "Clean water" is aimed at the development of new reagents, equipment, creation of new technological processes for complex innovative projects in the field of water treatment engineering that allows to solve complex problems of water supply of population and industrial facilities water quality, protect surface water from pollution by organic and mineral substances, ensuring rational water use and sustainable water management.

Work on research and development of treatment technologies were conducted by staff and students in the Educational-scientific centre "Clean water", which became an experimental platform for all research groups working on various aspects of water treatment problems. Innovation scholars this program is a comprehensive technology for potable and industrial water.

In the work of young scientists.And.Grishka, and A. A. Novosad on "Running cavitator with high intensity ultrasound for treatment of liquid media are the new approaches of solving the actual problem reagentless disinfection fluid by adding in Kate environment of abrasive material, which gave the opportunity to 5-6 times to increase the efficiency of the technological process of disinfection. This work was awarded the prize of the President of Ukraine for young scientists. It was presented in the headquarters of the UN and international organization "South-South" in new York (USA).

Medical and engineering component of health

The program "Medical engineering component of health" is aimed at the development of equipment, products and materials, medical devices and related scientific, industrial, computer and medical technology, which is a strategic direction for improving the standards of living of the population and orientation of the economy, science and technology on the development of the social sphere.

Scientists of the University have created the technical means of contactless temperature control of the brain and heart, which are applied during operations in conditions of artificial blood circulation. Made clinical implementation of protocols of General and local thermal effects and non-invasive control in conditions of artificial blood circulation.

Another innovative development of the scientists of this program was separating tissue using a bipolar knife. The main advantages of high frequency welding is the lack of development of inflammatory infection in the wound and no threat of infection from hollow organs.

Space program of the University

The scientific and technical basis of the Space program of the University" were the results of years of research and development by orders of the enterprises of space industry, in particular, Yuzhnoye. A milestone achievement was the development and successful launch on July 19 2014 the first Ukrainian University nanosatellite "PolyITAN-1" class CubeSat, developed by staff and students of NTUU "KPI". Experimental solar battery provides electrical power to all the electronic systems of the nanosatellite. Radio channels and radio control specialists have created FRE. Installed on nanooptic sensors coordinates of the Sun, their algorithmic and software, and electronic card with the Central processor, which controls all subsystems of the spacecraft, created by young scientists TEP and FEL. According to the results of the work of young scientists defended two PhD and more than 20 master's theses.

According to the American magazine "Science" creating miniature series satellites CubeSat included in the list of the ten most significant scientific breakthrough discoveries and scientific achievements of 2014 In Ukraine, the creation and launch of the first Ukrainian nanosatellite listed on the national register of records.

Specialists ETS was accompanied by work on the creation of national communication satellite "Lybid", participated in the testing and analysis of results of payload in the process of its creation in Canada and Krasnoyarsk.

Scientists recovered in cooperation with the public enterprise "Arsenal" held DOS lgende methods of increasing the efficiency of opto-electronic systems thermal imaging type with the improvement of systems of remote sensing of the Earth from space. The results were used to create the domestic space of the scanner. Some of the materials included in the scope of work for which the supervisor of the research work of V. G. The system of special and dual purpose

Activities under this program focus on the development and implementation of unmanned aerial vehicles for reconnaissance, search and rescue and other work of the relevant services, as well as on the training of their operators; the establishment of a system for obtaining high-quality drinking water from sources with varying degrees of biological and chemical pollution; creation of a system of information and cyber security modern computerized systems; the mo-upgrade of fire equipment and the organization of domestic production of emergency rescue equipment, small ground-level radio-relay systems with a high level of protection; the establishment of a system for detecting attempts of penetration by foreign objects in the area of safety and other technologies, devices and systems for special use.

For the first time in independent Ukraine for the state defense order in a short time (5 years) created a unique oversized (16х7м) multi-band polarization-adaptive antenna system for special purposes, which already operates effectively for its intended purpose. Tactical and technical characteristics is not inferior to the known world analogues, and sometimes exceeds them. This purely domestic product is an outstanding achievement of world level in the field of radio, therefore, is competitive on the world market and may become the subject of Ukraine exports of high technology products for special purposes.
