In accordance with the European Union's Sustainable Development Strategy, the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Sustainable Development Goals of Ukraine for the period up to 2030, the National Technical University of Ukraine "Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute" (hereinafter referred to as the University) adheres to the principles of environmental sustainability in its work.

The University's activities can have a significant impact on both the local and global environment, so through research and innovation, it tries to reduce the negative impact on the environment and contribute to the improvement of the environment.

The goal of the University's environmental policy is to create and implement effective mechanisms and tools to prevent harmful environmental impact and maintain/improve the environment.

The primary tasks of the University are: development of educational trajectories, raising the level of environmental awareness of students and employees; development of an innovative ecosystem, implementation of the principles of balanced use of natural resources at the global, national and regional levels.

  • Implementation of interdisciplinary projects aimed at solving environmental and socially oriented problems;
  • A systematic approach to the development of educational programs and courses, conducting research in the field of ecology, environmental protection and rational use of natural resources;

  • Use of digitalization tools to optimize administrative processes and reduce unnecessary emissions and environmental pollution, in particular through the introduction of electronic document management;
  • Monitoring the environmental safety of the University, making appropriate decisions to identify potential environmental hazards;
  • Organizing and conducting events on the territory of the University aimed at implementing and supporting environmentally friendly practices;
  • Supporting the sustainable travel policy;
  • Ensuring participation in international educational rankings of sustainable development of universities (in particular, THE University Impact Rankings and QS Sustainability) for a qualitative assessment of the University's achievements in the field of sustainable development, including climate change mitigation and adaptation;
  • Providing unimpeded access to information on the University's environmentally oriented policy.

  • Implementation of energy efficiency and resource saving principles;
  • Reducing the use of paper by switching to the Megapolis electronic document management system and using web services to enable electronic submission of work;
  • Use of materials that meet accepted environmental standards for renovation and reconstruction of buildings;
  • Implementation of a green procurement system, i.e. purchasing goods that are safe for the environment and human life;
  • Organization of safe and healthy food on the territory of the University.
