Twenty-eight veterans who joined the second cohort of the “Future of Prosthetics in Ukraine” program have enrolled in master’s degree programs at Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute. Eighteen are studying Applied Mechanics, while ten have chosen Biomedical Engineering.
The meeting was an opportunity for the new students to learn more about the university’s infrastructure, practical training opportunities, and support available throughout their studies.
The participants visited the university’s science park, where they learned about additive manufacturing technologies, as well as the Prosthetics and Rehabilitation Center and specialized laboratories. These facilities provide opportunities to work with 3D scanning, digital modeling, and additive manufacturing, and to take part in practical projects related to prosthetics and rehabilitation.
The students were also introduced to the support available to help them navigate academic and administrative procedures and address personal challenges that may arise during their studies.
The meeting also provided an opportunity to connect with the university’s professional community and representatives of organizations working in the field of prosthetics and rehabilitation, including the Protez Foundation and Bionic Technologies.
The “Future of Prosthetics in Ukraine” program is implemented with financial support from appflame and assistance from Genesis for Ukraine. It provides participants with grants, scholarships, and comprehensive support throughout their education.
For the veterans, studying at Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute opens up new opportunities to gain engineering knowledge, develop practical skills, and contribute to the advancement of prosthetics and rehabilitation technologies that can improve the lives of other veterans.
