A memorial plaque honoring Mariia Bihun (Leut) was unveiled in Building No. 18 of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, at her home faculty — the Faculty of Informatics and Computer Engineering (FIOT). Mariia was a student of the university, a servicemember of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, a junior sergeant, and a UAV operator. The ceremony was held on what would have been her birthday.

ℹ️ In 2018, Mariia enrolled at Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute to study Software Engineering. During her studies, she actively participated in student life, played drums in a rock band, and studied Japanese at the Ukrainian-Japanese Center.

📌 After the start of Russia's full-scale invasion, she chose to remain in Kyiv, volunteered, and later joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine. She served in the Territorial Defence Forces as a riflewoman and UAV operator, carrying out missions in Kyiv, Kharkiv, Cherkasy Oblast, and Kharkiv Oblast. In recognition of her courage and dedicated service, she was awarded the Golden Cross by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

On February 21, 2026, Mariia was killed while carrying out a combat mission near the village of Senkove in Kupiansk District, Kharkiv Oblast.

📜 The memorial plaque at her home faculty will preserve the memory of Mariia Bihun—a talented student of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, a defender of Ukraine, and a person of courage, dignity, and profound love for her country.

🕯 Eternal memory and glory.
