It is with deep sadness that we announce the untimely death of the outstanding scientist and educator, Deputy Director of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Applied Systems Analysis for Scientific and Pedagogical Work, Professor Viktor Demidovich Romanenko.

VIKTOR DEMIDOVICH ROMANENKO
(January 22, 1938 – December 12, 2025)

Viktor Demidovich graduated from the Kyiv Polytechnic Institute in 1966 with a degree in electrical engineering. From 1972, he worked at Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, in particular, from 1997, as deputy director of the Educational and Scientific Complex “Institute of Applied System Analysis” of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, dean of the Faculty of System Research of the Educational and Scientific Complex “IAS”; Deputy Head of the Department of Mathematical Methods of System Analysis (since 1988). Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, Honored Worker of Science and Technology of Ukraine, laureate of the State Prize of Ukraine in Science and Technology (1999), Honored Teacher of Igor Sikorsky KPI, “Excellence in Education” of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, Academician of the Academy of Sciences of Higher Education of Ukraine; author of over 200 scientific works, 2 monographs, 1 textbook, 2 teaching aids approved by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, and 20 author's certificates for inventions. Laureate of the Kyiv Polytechnic Institute Award (1998).

In the field of automation of control systems, V.D. Romanenko has trained 2 doctors and 5 candidates of sciences, and one PhD. He took an active part in the introduction of training and the creation of standards for new specialties: “System Analysis and Management,” “Decision-Making Systems and Methods,” “Intelligent Decision-Making Systems,” and educational programs: “System Analysis of the Financial Market,” “Intelligent Data Analysis in Project Management,” “Artificial Intelligence Systems.”

Professor V.D. Romanenko enjoyed well-deserved authority among his colleagues and respect among scientists, teachers, staff, and students of the university. He worked fruitfully and was inspired to seek and resolve educational and scientific issues.

The memory of Viktor Demidovich will always live on in the hearts of his family, friends, colleagues, students, and all those who had the honor of knowing this extraordinary person.

For many of us, he was not only a colleague, but also a teacher, mentor, and a person with whom we shared years of working together and warm memories.
