Among the interesting exhibits of ancient equipment and impressive photos of the exhibition “From the Flame We Were Born” dedicated to Ukrainian military, volunteers and medics, the State Polytechnic Museum named after Borys Paton at Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute hosted an event that is especially relevant today. The most motivated students and postgraduate students of the Faculty of Instrumentation devoted more than 4 hours to training in the course of first aid under the program of the American College of Surgeons “STOP THE BLEED”. This free training was conducted by instructors of the BEe MED volunteer group Oksana Musiakevych and Serhii Nechai (also an associate professor of PBF).
The students were taught the algorithm of actions when providing assistance, how to distinguish and stop critical bleeding using modern means and methods. After a thorough lecture, the floor of the museum hall turned into two separate lawns, where the training participants practiced wound tamponade and bandaging on mock-ups, and learned to skillfully use two common types of turnstiles - CAT and SICH. These skills are no less important for safety than the presence of shelters: in a possible critical situation, they will help save lives of themselves and those around them.
