On November 1, 2017, a protest action was held near the building of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine. The initiative to hold the action was taken by the Kyiv city organization of the Trade Union of Education and Science Workers of Ukraine. About 600 employees of our university attended the event.
The participants of the action passed a column to the building of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and held a rally there (pictured). The chairman of the Kyiv city organization of the Trade Union of Education and Science Workers of Ukraine Oleksandr Yatsun, the Deputy Head of the Trade Union of Education and Science Workers of Ukraine, Lyubov Garbarenko, representatives of individual educational institutions hold the action. The speakers spoke about the inadmissibility of inadequate funding for the educational sector in Kyiv, in particular, they objected that the amount of educational subvention from the state budget for 2018 for Kyiv would be UAH 2.7 billion with the necessary need of UAH 3.9 billion. So underfunding can lead to a reduction of 7 thousand employees of the industry or to reduce salaries.
During the protest, representatives of the capital's educators met with the First Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Volodymyr Kovtunets and Deputy Minister Pavlo Hobsey and sent them a resolution to the Government. The resolution formulates the requirements of Kyiv educators to the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and states that in the case of their ignoring, they will begin the process of joining the collective labor dispute.
