Gold Medal of V.I. Vernadsky National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine is the highest award of the NAS of Ukraine, which is awarded for outstanding achievements in the field of natural, technical and social sciences and humanities.
The medal was established in 2003 - in the year of the 85th anniversary of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine in honor of the first president of the Academy - an outstanding scientist, Academician V.I. Vernadsky. The first winner was the president of National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Boris Paton.
Annually two scientists-one from Ukraine and one from abroad -are awarded with this medal.
