The 16th International Scientific and Technical Conference of Young Scientists and Students “Youth Innovations in Mechanical Engineering” held in a mixed format (in person and online) on May 12 at the Igor Sikorsky KPI State Polytechnic Museum, covered a wide range of topics.

The organizers of the forum – employees of the Educational and Scientific Mechanical Engineering Institute of Igor Sikorsky KPI – believe that this conference has become a platform for communication between young scientists, creating a space for dialogue and discussion of topical issues in the field of mechanical engineering and helping participants to create, develop and implement innovative technologies in the production and operation of modern machines and mechanisms.

The scientific and technical tasks that young scientists in the field of mechanical engineering are working on today include design, technical calculations, technologies for the manufacture of mechanical engineering products, testing and operation of parts, components, and assemblies. Young scientists from Igor Sikorsky KPI, NTU “Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute,” Karlstad University (Kingdom of Sweden), Kyiv Small Academy of Sciences, Polytechnic and Technical Lyceums of Igor Sikorsky KPI took part in the section meetings. The names of the sections speak for themselves: “Dynamics and Strength of Machines,” “Mechanical Engineering Technologies,” “Processes and Equipment for Plastic Forming of Structures in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering,” “Machine Construction and Design,” “Welding Engineering, Laser and Related Technologies.” They testify to the wide range of scientific fields in which young scientists, students, and high school students are involved. As noted during the plenary session of the conference by the chairman of the Academic Council of the Institute of +MMI, Professor Vitaliy Pasichnyk: "KPI is a place where education, science, and innovation are directed toward the further development of Ukraine as a state. I would like to thank the soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine for the opportunity to hold such events at our university, where education and science work for the future for the sake of our victory over the enemy."

Among the business partners of the Institute of MMI who participated in the conference were Boeing Ukraine LLC, Progresstech-Ukraine LLC, Bureau of Special Technical Engineering "Standard. T LLC, 3D Metal Tech, SkyFall, Ukrop, Zbroyar Group of Companies, and others. In their addresses to the audience, representatives of machine-building and implementation companies encouraged young scientists and students to join the work in promising areas related to their topics.

Among the schoolchildren participating in the XVI International Scientific and Technical Conference of Young Scientists and Students “Youth Innovations in Mechanical Engineering” were young students of the Kyiv MAN: Oleksandr Bigun, Bohdan Koval, Oleksandr Polinchik, Maksym Prykhodko, Danylo Shtovbonko, and Yegor Matveev. The scientific interests of the high school students who gave presentations at the conference sessions and received corresponding certificates included the modernization of mobile storage, research into the friction properties of ball and roller bearings, magnetic levitation trains, a system of adaptive spikes for car wheels, and improving subway tunnel construction technology.
