Ensuring a stable energy supply is critical for our country. It is crucial for military needs, maintaining the livelihoods of the civilian population, and preserving economic stability. Therefore, it is necessary to implement energy efficiency measures that allow for more efficient use of energy resources. Therefore, we are already beginning to develop mechanisms for implementing an innovative economic policy to ensure energy efficiency in the context of the development of Industries 4.0, 5.0 and the growing risks of the post-war period.

The scientists of Kyiv Polytechnic make a significant contribution to overcoming the challenges facing our country. This does not go unnoticed by the government. In particular, Olena Trofymenko, Professor of the Department of Economic Cybernetics, Doctor of Economics, received a scholarship from the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for young scientists - doctors of sciences in 2024 for her research on “Innovative economic policy of energy efficiency in the conditions of post-war recovery”. “The study provides a scientific justification for the target model of energy efficiency, taking into account the goals of sustainable development, decarbonization of the economy (reduction of greenhouse gas emissions), circular economy (efficient use of resources, waste minimization) and identification of measures to increase energy efficiency, including proposals for updating the system for monitoring economic indicators of its provision in accordance with the needs of stakeholders in the context of war and post-war recovery in Ukraine,” says the author of the study.

The professor has important experience in implementing international projects and research commissioned by government agencies. She was the head of a scientific and expert working group to conduct a study for the Ministry for Development of Economy, Trade and Agriculture of Ukraine with the participation of UNICEF Ukraine and with the support of DELOITTE Ukraine as part of the pilot project “Synergy of Knowledge, Experience and Creativity for the Future”. Based on its results, an analytical study was conducted on the topic “Accelerator Targets for Ukraine's Achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals for Goals 8, 9, 12 and 17”, which took 1st place in the competition for the best research on the topic (2020). The materials of these studies were also taken into account in the preparation of the first Voluntary National Review of Ukraine's progress in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, which was presented during the ECOSOC Policy Forum on Sustainable Development in 2020 in New York.

Moreover, Olena Trofymenko participated in the collective research on the project “Foresight: Challenges to the Energy Independence of Countries and Regions of the World in the Medium-Term (until 2025) and Long-Term (until 2030) Time Horizons”. She is a certified participant of the international internship “International Research and Education Projects in Polish and European Higher Education Institutions: Practice, Experience, Innovations” (WSG University, Poland), has been an intern at the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine, and is a certified SAP ERP specialist.

Her professional knowledge, achievements and experience have been recognized by the professional community. She is a member of the editorial board of the professional scientific publication of Ukraine of category B “Entrepreneurship and Innovation”, since 2020 - an official reviewer in the international scientific publication “Economics”, which is indexed in the Scopus scientific and metric database (Lithuania); a member of the Ukrainian Association for the Development of Management and Business Education UARMBO, an expert of the NGO “Academic Space”, a lecturer at the international program “Digital and Entrepreneurship Academy Program”, etc.
